This is a really neat gadget, and a low cost of entry into VR by using your GS phone. Best to use this sitting in a swivel chair, as you get disconnected from the real world pretty quickly. You'll need a BT game controller to get the full effect of many of the games available. The phone does get hot after extended use in this. Those looking for the full VR experience will eventually want to step up to the more expensive PC-based systems.

got mine on sale $100 off which made it a decent value. Previously wore a Pebble Steel. The Apple Watch is a nicer watch, more elegant and more comfortable too. Color watch face is easier to read, and bigger too without being too big or bulky. Stays paired with my iPhone better than the Pebble did. Getting about 36 hours on a charge, though I don't have constant alerts or other interactions going on - mostly just phone and text and calendar appointment alerts. Not much support for sleep apps yet; the Pebble was much better for that. As with all smart watches, it's really best for watch wearers or those who just love techie stuff. I rarely take my phone out of my pocket now, but I've always worn a watch so looking at my wrist is more natural than looking at my phone.

just the right size for pre-teen

this was bought for an 11 year old as a present and to get her off my wife's full sized iPad. This is much more portable, and still big enough for games and such. We bought the wifi-only version to save some money and so we had a little more control over her online access. Running a hotspot from my iPhone works great for travel, made even more seamless when registering the device as a family asset on my iTunes account. We got the 32GB version as we've found 16GB on our iPad2 isn't really enough to hold games plus pics/videos/music plus a few movies for trips. I also like the family setup where she has to get permission to download an app, but the request is sent to my iPhone so I can do it even when I'm away from home.

Maybe it's just my ears, but this seems a bit boomy to me. We've tried it in various places, ensured it's not against a wall, etc., but still seems like they tried to over-emphasize the bass to compensate for the small size. Sure looks nice though.

Sound is nice, but DVD player is fussy

For a HTIB, the sound on this system is pretty good; better than the Panasonic HTIB it replaced. But the DVD player is problematic. Because it's a top-load design, you have to click the disk onto the spindle. This didn't work well with Netflix DVD's, which have a label applied around the center and interferes with the tabs on the spindle. If the disk isn't firmly attached with all three tabs, the disk wobbles a bit. Even worse, after it's closed, if the disk is wobbly it gets stuck and the top won't open again so you can fix it. This was almost a weekly occurrence, especially when children were using it. Cycling power and quickly hitting "open" before the disk could spin up again was the only remedy. I see this as a design flaw on these top-load designs; a draw-type design doesn't have this issue. So there's nothing to "repair". The sliding door is certainly slick, but not worth the trouble it causes.
This system would probably be OK for someone that doesn't rent disks, or is diligent enough to ensure the disk is on right each time. It's otherwise a compact system with decent sound for movies (not really music) that doesn't take up much space.
Kudos to Best Buy BTW. I lived with this several weeks past my return window, but the local store agreed to take it back and give me store credit toward separate components.

nice sound, incomplete remote / Bravia Sync

So I've had this now for 3 weeks, and use it mostly for TV / gaming / movies. No complaints on the sound - I have it hooked up to Energy Take Classic 5.1's and it's very clean and powerful, even on some music I sampled. My main complaint is with the controls, especially the remote:
- I can access my music on PC via DLNA, but it hangs occasionally; turning the receiver off/on resolves it. Very frustrating.
- the "display" button on the remote does nothing. I expected it to work like the "display" button on the receiver, to cycle through various settings.
- the remote won't control my Sony BDPS5200 Blu-Ray player. It has transport controls like play and pause, but they do nothing. It's connected to my receiver via HDMI, and "Bravia Sync" and "HDMI control" are enabled on everything. My TV remote controls the DVD player fine.
- turning on the receiver won't turn on my Sony KDL55W700B TV, unless I hit "movie". This would be OK if there was enough information on the receiver display to tune the radio or manage music, but those need the TV display to see them. CEC control is enabled - when I turn on the TV first, the receiver comes on.
- The main reason I went with Sony was to be able to use Bravia sync and use one remote to control everything (as the marketing material promises) but that isn't happening. The most complete remote is the TV remote; even the Blu-ray player remote is more multitasking than this receiver's remote. We also have a Harmony but my family members didn't like it, so all-Sony seemed like a good solution. So now that I have to use the TV remote to control my system, my TV has to do the input switching too so all those component connections I paid extra for on this model are useless. The only thing hooked up to the receiver is the Blu-ray player.

So how do I connect the pioneer Atmos speakers to this .... the pioneer have sets of out puts one for the top firing
Hook the "Front A" (L/R) speaker outputs from the receiver to the main inputs on your speaker - they should be clearly labeled. Then hook the "surround back/height" speaker outputs from the receiver to the second pair of speaker inputs. You'll also need to go into the speaker menu on the receiver to tell it you have height speakers not surround back speakers.

My old receiver let me select an HDMI input that would pass through the receiver when it is turned off? This is nice when you want to watch TV and just use the Tv's speakers. Does this receiver support passing through an input when it is turned off?
