An epic wuxia masterpiece. A Zhang Yimou classic

Hero is a 2002 epic wuxia film directed by Zhang Yimou, who also directed House of Flying Daggers and Curse of the Golden Flower, in 2004 and 2006 respectively. Zhang is also the mastermind behind the extravagant opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics in 2008. The martial arts choreography in Hero has since influenced many of the action sequence in contemporary western action film making. I purchased this steelbook release on sale for $9.99 even I already own other released versions of this film. The only downside to this steelbook version is it only has the international release of the film (shorter version) and very limited special features. It would be perfect if it also contains the original Chinese release version (extended with more than 30 min.) and more extras about the film.

Classic Tarantino, Nice Steelbook Version

Of the most popular steelbook versions released for the Kill Bill series (1 & 2), the Best Buy version in my opinion is the best release to own for collectible interest. I personally like this release's individual packaging of the two films in separate steelbook cases, as oppose to a single case containing the two movies like the Zavvi version. This version's steelbook art is unique and consistent on both cases, with the samurai sword in the front and Uma Thurman in the back, unlike the Alliance release which I think the art is not at all consistent between the two cases. I purchased both steelbooks on sale for $9.99 even I already own other releases and formats of the two films, so don't hesitate to get this (and Kill Bill 1) if you like the series.

An action thriller film by Quentin Tarantino, Kill Bill draws influences from the spaghetti western and classic Asian cinemas, particularly the Japanese yakuza films and the Japanese samurai movies of the 1960's and 1970's. For those who are interested in Japanese animations, the animation part of this film was finished by no other but Production I.G. in Japan. I purchased this steelbook version on sale for $9.99 even I already own several other releases in DVD and bluray format, so don't hesitate to get it if anyone likes Kill Bill because this would add a nice collectible item on the shelf.

Pulp Fiction is a classic neo-noir film by Quentin Tarantino. The black comedy characteristic and the nonlinear narrative structure of the film both pays homages to old western cinemas and redefines American film making. This steelbook version is no doubt a good collectible item to have on the shelf if anyone likes the film. I bought it on sale for $9.99, so don't hesitate to get it even if you already own other released versions of Pulp Fiction.
