If you don't already know what borderlands is then this isn't the review for you. This third iteration of a popular series has endured rather than thrived.
The first borderlands was refreshing, they had discovered a formula that gave them success. Now with the "Pre-Sequel" an attempt has been made to include new features, notably, Oxygen. Referred to as O2, it allows you to jump to greater heights to find that hidden treasure or escape being surrounded and overwhelmed. There's just one hitch...You have a limited reserve. This means that when your counter reaches zero, you are now slowly dying of asphyxiation, until you find that next gasp. Just another "feature" to frustrate your gaming experience. Nice try Gearbox, instead we'd rather you shower us with gold keys and epic weapons.

Whether you followed the exploits of Jackie Estacado from the Darkness comics or you're new to the FPS genre, this is a solid game, although relatively short (6+ hrs.) Following the story from the first game, you must learn to embrace and use the darkness as tool to overcoming the myriad of enemies. I feel this title wouldn't be appropriate for younger crowds due to the nature of the violence portrayed.

Let's be honest. Nintendo is making a killing right now with their Amiibo line. They are flying off the shelves and have become a re-sellers dream commodity. All that aside, the figurines are fully detailed and cleverly designed to be interactive interfaces that "grow" as you play with them. I chose Link due to his "link" across several titles. From Hyrule Warriors to Smash Bros to Mario Kart. Particularly in Smash Bros. our Amiibo has leveled up to a point where he is now an unstoppable force to be reckoned with.

The *hopeful* future of educational programming

Watching the news, It undeniable that we live in a world that elevates ignorance and intolerance. I can't begin to express how much this type of educational broadcasting is sorely needed in our society. Especially one that caters to the young and the old. Allow me to preface by saying I consider myself an avid reader and at least somewhat proficient in matters regarding the physical universe. However, this show blows my mind! I truly appreciate the steps taken to present the subject material in an "easy to understand" approach that appeals to all ages. The host, Neil D. Tyson, a well-known astrophysicist whose personal appreciation and dedication to the expansion of science is clearly seen in several episodes. As a caveat, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that there are a couple of occasions where the host is critical of religion and its undeniable involvement in the history of some of humanities greatest scientific achievements. Personally, I applaud their efforts. Coming from a former religious background, I understand only too well the tactics generally used to discredit or deny the legitimacy of ideas that contradict the established theocracy. In short, I highly recommend this series. A huge Thank You to Tyson, MacFarlane, Druyan, of course Sagan, and everyone else who strives toward a better, more educated future for those who come ahead.
