This is a a great and cheap device that can be used by Intel WiDi, Windows 8.1 and above, and miracast compliant devices to send visual and audio content to a TV with an HDMI input. The USB side is strictly for power. Sometimes it will require a reboot or two to get working.

Would this work with a HP Envy x360? This laptop does not support Miracast. Therefore, I have to find an adapter that will connect wirelessly to the QUMI 3 projector I have purchased.

Does anyone know if I can use this adapter with the Dish Anywhere app on the iPhone 6 Plus? Going to a rental house that doesn't have cable/satellite but has a wifi connection.
this adapter allows you to connect an apple device via and HDMI cable to an external monitor. It does not give you any ability to connect with anything over wifi. If the Dish Anywhere app allows you to see your content over wifi, this is great. You MIGHT be able to then send this output to an external screen, HOWEVER, most content over wifi apps have digital rights managment (DRM) that will keep you from piping the content out to an external screen. The DRM is in place to keep you from gaming the licensing / content. You can try it, but it might or might not work (80% against). Your better bet is to see if your dish anywhere app is available on the new apple TV. If so, this WILL work.
