Is it an accurate pedimeter?

I got the fitness band for xmas and wore it one day to track my steps but it counted more steps than I walked.

Yes, it counts steps as you take them. However, it will also pick up a lot of hand movement. That is why it is so important to wear it on your non-dominant hand. There will be significantly LESS movement coming from this hand naturally. Hope this helps!
