know what you're getting into

At this point, just about everyone has heard about this film. Be aware of what you're watching. If you like gritty, realistic looking films, you won't enjoy this. The first time I saw this movie, I didn't care much for it. While it follows the story of Thermopylae, it didn't portray a realistic version of history. Everything looked overdone, fake, and over-dramatized. But if you think about it from the standpoint of a Greek historian or soldier describing the events to a group, he might embellish to the point that the imagination of the hearer would conjur the images presented in this film. Taking that approach, I enjoy this film immensely

Not a bad flick. Some good character development. By far, the most interesting character is Loki, helped by a very convincing performance by t. Hiddleston. Natalie Portman's character is so uninteresting as to hurt the overall feel of the movie though. If you want an enjoyable action flick B level movie, this is good one.
