We had previously bought one of these so we decided to give this one as a gift. A family member purchased the JBL $80 black friday special at the same time and it seemed like this Insignia had clearer sound and bass. The JBL had sort of a muffled sound with its loud booming bass where the Insignia had more clarity in its levels. Now this speaker will not rock the house, but for a good sized room to listen to music it does very well.
