Ghostbusters: Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson star as a quartet of Manhattan-based "paranormal investigators". When their government grants run out, the former three go into business as The Ghostbusters, later hiring Hudson on. Armed with electronic paraphernalia, the team is spectacularly successful, ridding The Big Apple of dozens of ghoulies, ghosties and long-legged beasties. Tight-lipped bureaucrat William Atherton regards the Ghostbusters as a bunch of charlatans, but is forced to eat his words when New York is besieged by an army of unfriendly spirits, conjured up by a long-dead Babylonian demon and "channelled" through beautiful cellist Sigourney Weaver and nerdish Rick Moranis. The climax is a glorious sendup of every Godzilla movie ever made-and we daresay it cost more than a year's worth of Japanese monster flicks combined. Who'd ever dream that the chubby, cheery Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man would turn out to be the most malevolent threat ever faced by New York City? When the script for Ghostbusters was forged by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, John Belushi was slated to play the Bill Murray role; Belushi's death in 1982 not only necessitated the hiring of Murray, but also an extensive rewrite. The most expensive comedy made up to 1984, Ghostbusters made money hand over fist, spawning not only a 1989 sequel but also two animated TV series (one of them partially based on an earlier live-action TV weekly, titled The Ghost Busters. Ghostbusters II: Ivan Reitman's sequel to the phenomenally successful Ghostbusters is looser and more self-assured than the original. The film opens with a title reading "Five Years Later" and finds the ghostbusters living in hard times. A restraining order has forbidden the boys to partake in paranormal warfare, and as a result they have had to seek other lines of work. Ray (Dan Aykroyd) and Winston (Ernie Hudson) spend their time performing at children's' birthday parties, and Egon (Harold Ramis) is busy conducting experiments investigating the effect of human emotions on the environment, leaving ghostbusting behind. Venkman (Bill Murray) and Dana (Sigourney Weaver) have split up. Venkman now hosts a local cable show called "The World of the Psychic." Dana, now divorced and the mother of a little baby named Oscar, works as an art restorer in a museum -- and this is where the plot kicks in. While Dana is restoring a portrait of a 16th-century tyrant by the name of Vigo the Carpathian, the portrait becomes hexed. The evil Vigo wants to return to life by taking over the body of Dana's little child. Vigo has enlisted Dana's boss, Janosz Poha (Peter MacNicol), to compel Dana to cooperate. Soon dirty sludge and slime flow through the streets of Manhattan, and the ghostbusters have to reunite to save the city from a funky paranormal evil.

Sharp picture, sharp comedy

This is a biased review. This is true due to the fact that Ghostbusters is definitely my favorite comedy film ever. And not just that. It may well be the top film for re-watching over the years in my eyes.
Now, this blu-ray features 4K mastering/resolution. That is a very nice feature and pretty darn amazing for films from 1984 and 1989.
I love both films, the first is best in my opinion of course.
There are some nice features included in a very cool hardcover book case.
I recommend this to someone who loves the films and would like to see them on blu-ray in high definition.
This is it! This is definitely it!

Very Sharp transfer

If you are looking for special features/supplemental content on a blu-ray for Men in Black then you will need to look elsewhere.
This is the film only but it is mastered in 4K resolution.
It actually has a very sharp picture and the sound in the movie has always been excellent.
For something that came out in 1997, this is about as "new" as the movie has looked to me in a while.
I recommend this to someone looking for top picture quality. At least until a higher resolution is created, which it may already have been.

DEATH rides a long dark road

This is an intense and rewarding listening experience.
The band lineup on this record is truly focused inward on an introspective quest to decimate our collective eardrums.
Purely beautiful devastation. Also, it should be noted that the melodic death metal guitar styles of Chuck are beyond most anything I previously heard.

DIO is a mighty lead vocalist and a powerful band. RJD lead a truly spirited effort here in the debut album for this group. From the lyrics right down to the thunderous drums, this is a definitive album.
Just like a Rainbow in the Dark, you will want to give this more than a few listens.

Slayer in Short Form is still SLAYER

Although it is always fun to type the band's name in all capitals...
This is an EP from the band and features an extra song on top of the original 3 featured. It is true Slayer form from the classic lineup.
I recommend this EP to all Slayer listeners/fans both new and old(er).

SLAYER takes another new form

Slayer is a band that means a lot to many people. The current lineup carries on after several major blows to the core.
This album is a testament to the resilience of the band as a unit. It is extremely heavy and full of bitter fire.
No matter which old hat saying I could throw in, just know an eternal pyre is set up to keep the flame alive.
The album is focused and direct with the listener.

Fear Factory Forms the Future

This is definitely a Fear Factory record from first listen to any future ones.
They have their own sound and they will stick to it. On first listen, I may have been in the wrong mindset going in. But upon further inspection, this record has grown on me.

Hot diggity Lamb!

As a longtime fan of the band, it is always wonderful to hear some new material from Lamb of God.
After the trials they have moved beyond, it's just amazing to listen to the work they've put into this album. Randy Blythe really channeled the feelings he had after everything into this blistering but focused effort.
I recommend this record to both longtime fans as well as hopeful new listeners.

Rammstein frontman delivers
on September 8, 2015

Lindemann, project from the front man for the German band Rammstein, does not necessarily disappoint here in his solo debut... However, his English language singing was a shock to my ears at least.
He has done so before, but it's always strange to hear Mr. Lindemann sing in anything other than German (save for the French lyrics in a certain song or so).
The music is pretty straight forward in the vein we're used to. There are some subtle stylistic differences, but otherwise it's what you would hope for over all.
I recommend this record for fans of the band and the man.
