Fans of the tongue-in-cheek takes on zombie movies like "Zombieland" or of Simon Pegg, "Hot Fuzz" will be very satisfied with "Shaun of the Dead" a movie combining a bit of blood soaked zombie mayhem and the signature humor that Simon Pegg is known for. This movie was a great value since it not only included a steelbook case which looks great but also included a HD digital copy. Everything you could ask for.

While the quality of each movie may vary, having the entire series in HD in one convenient spot is great. Would have liked to have digital copy as well (only reason for the 4 star) but still a really good deal.

Hacksaw Ridge marks director Mel Gibson's triumphant directorial return to the big screen in moving fashion. Following the real-life army medic Desmond Doss, Hacksaw Ridge tells the story of one of the greatest heroes to ever live. As a young boy, Desmond is surrounded by a turbulent childhood wrought by his abusive father (a WWI vet who is tragically broken by loss, alcoholism and P.T.S.D.). But through his faith in God and the strong guiding force of his mother, Desmond learns the sanctity of life and begins his journey towards his heroic destiny. After his brother Hal enlists, Desmond is moved to join as a medic but also as a conscientious objector, a move which complicates his enrollment in the army. After much tribulation, (and Desmond finds himself allowed to serve without having to complete his rifle training), he dives headfirst into the fiery battle of Okinawa. With the bloodiest theater in the Pacific during WWII as a backdrop, Desmond's tale of pacifism and brotherly love comes to life as he does what no other has been able to do through his conviction and faith to serve his country and his God. Andrew Garfield and Teresa Palmer are well cast and supporting players like Vince Vaughn, Sam Worthington, and Hugo weaving all bring this story to vibrant life. Perhaps one of the best "war" movies ever made, Gibson does not shy away from the stark reality of war and the brutal life and death struggle has not felt so visceral since Saving Private Ryan. Although not everyone may be able to stomach all of the harsh parts, Hacksaw Ridge is a story that is worth telling and is one everyone should know.
The UHD 4K bundle is a great deal and allows for a long term upgrade, even including the standard Blu-ray and UV copies fpr easy access. The deep and vibrant colors and the superb score and sound design all are at their best quality and make the home viewing experience all the more enjoyable. A wonderful story told in the most real way. Highly recommended.

Iffy fit, from a great company.

I purchased two of these screen protectors, one for an S7 black and another for an S7 gold. Surprisingly the screen protector did not fully adhere to the black S7 and had a visible halo on the edges where the protector could not stick due to a very slight curve of the screen edges. The gold S7 did not have this problem and the protector worked fine, sticking completely without the halo. If you run into this issue, Zagg upgraded me to the Glass curve protector through their warranty program, which worked on the black S7. Not sure why they haven't fully addressed this. Never had a problem with a Zagg product before. Just be aware of your model before buying.

A visual Gothic feast

"Crimson Peak" never fails to live up to the high visual standard set by director Guillermo Del Toro, and while C.P. may not bring the big scares that the dark subject material requires; this gothic tale is still worth a look. Part ghost story, part haunted house, part story of self discovery, C.P. places its main protagonist (Edith) at the center of what is to be a rocky ride as she delves deeper into the mystery at hand and consequently deeper into her own past. Strong performances from Mia Wasikowska, Tom Hiddleson, and Jessica Chastain help to flesh out the storyline and keeps things moving along. For many horror fans C.P. may not deliver quite the experience that was expected as Del Toro's ghosts fit more into the monster/creature category (to which he excels) than that of spirits. But for fans of his visionary style this is a must see. Although not as strong as "Pan's Labyrinth" C.R. continues to demonstrate Del Toro's passion for the dark and the things that inhabit them.

"Tammy" may be a bit of an oddball comedy, but works as proof that Melissa McCarthy can carry any story-line past its limitations. This unusual coming of age story/buddy film pairs McCarthy with Susan Sarandon in a cross-country trek to find themselves. Directed by McCarthy's real life husband Ben Falcone, "Tammy" suffers from a bit a jumbled storyline and messy pacing. However Melissa does still manage to shine through and Susan does an excellent job as her sidekick; and was a refreshing change in character for her. Fans of Melissa will most likely love this film even if the material itself is a bit lacking in substance.

While remaining mostly faithful to it's source materials orgins, "Macbeth" still delivers its own visual style and flair in this dark tale of ambition, passion and self destruction amongst the horror and carnage of war torn Scottland. Fassbender sizzles as the lead and Cotillard brings her protrayal of the iconic Lady MacBeth to new heights. This bloody and cold retelling carries the weight of the story-line's unspeakable deed to the forefront, forever changing its protagonists to the point of madness. This excellent adaptation is a wonderful homage to Shakespeare's original work and is well worth the watch.

"Ghost in The Shell" even after 25 years, still brings strong and creative visuals as well as a captivating soundtrack to this anime classic and is a perfect film for fans as well as newcomers to the genre. Through a sweeping and sprawling vision of an endless city-scape GITS not only offers action and adventure, but delves into the larger questions of artificial intelligence, surveillance, and existence; all which still resonate today. This pioneering work of animation not only helped to bring anime into the main stream but also helped to establish the cyber-punk genre. While the visuals still remain sharp, with some cgi segments may have not aged as well in comparison, both benefit from Blu-ray treatment and offer lots of eye-candy. In the end, GITS still remains a must watch for anime fans and for those looking for an adventure.

A fun comedy reuniting Fey and Poehler

Sisters brings together a large cast of current and former SNL cast members for a surprisingly sharp comedy that finds success in its lead actresses undeniable chemistry making this coming of age story more memorable than what its simple premise would lead to believe, Many guest appearances (Bobby Moynihan, Maya Rudolph, and Kate McKinnon) adds to stellar cast and fun cameos from the likes of John Cena help to add pep into what is largely a character driven story. The laughs are witty and vulgar and driven home by "Sisters" leads and while the added attempt to place family togetherness and morality may seem a bit unnecessary, ( with some of the antics and ending being a bit of a stretch in terms of believably) it does not detract from the overall experience. The Blue ray itself is full of extra features and the included dvd and digital copy give you everything you could want. Fans of Fey and Poehler definitely should watch as well as anyone looking for a biting and raunchy good time.

A surprising and enduring Sci-Fi tale

Headed by strong performances from Oscar Isaac and Alicia Vikandor, "Ex Machina" delves past its facade of metal and wires delving into a deeper tale of growth and vulnerability. While EM may rely heavily on exploring ideas and the limitations of the human condition, its special effects (somewhat subdued by flasher sci-fi films) still shine through and benefit from the Blu-ray transfer. And while this may sound like a criticism, the visuals bring about a refined style, helping to focus not only on the mechanics of directors Alex Garland's female lead but works to push past the superficial and into the heart of this surprisingly exploratory work. A must see for Sci-fi fans, EM will not only impress fans of the genre but others (who may not consider themselves Sci-fi fans) will find depth and substance in EM's universal and resonant themes.
