The optical plug on this cable was too large to fit the device I was trying to use it for. Looked to me like a manufacturing flaw. Would have had to forced the plug into device and afraid of ruining both cable and device.

Is it possible to connect the digital optical audio output to an analog input?
I just bought a Sony KDL 40W600B tv. I have an analog HT system that I'd hate to have to replace. My old Sony Bravia (also HD) had RCA outputs that connected just fine. This new tv doesn't seem to have RCA outputs, only component inputs.
The Home theater System is a Niro Pro 1.1. I love the sound it produces and don't wish to replace it. Any advice or suggestions on how to connect these would be greatly appreciated.
I also have a Sony Blu-Ray DVD connected to the tv via HDMI cables. DVDs play but the sound comes out of the tv now, not the NIro like it used to. Thanks.

You can purchase a small inexpensive device to connect to optical input and convert it to analog via RCA plug. There should also be a device to convert it to coaxial cable with appropriate connecter.
