This movie seemed to get a lot of bad reviews so I wasn't expecting much. It is, however, much funnier than expected and, especially if you're a Western fan, a fun parody of the genre.
From the director of Chicago and the producer of Wicked comes a modern twist on the beloved fairy tales you thought you knew. Meryl Streep stars in this epic musical saga about daring to venture Into The Woods. Iconic characters, such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk and Rapunzel, find their fates intertwined with a humble baker and his wife, whose longing to have a child sends them on a quest to reverse a witch's (Streep) curse. With an all-star cast, this spellbinding adventure is everything you could ever wish for!

Your satisfaction with this movie will probably be directly proportional to how much you know and love the original. If you love the musical then this is a nice abridgment but frustrating in all that is left out...even though the Great Stephen Sondheim has assisted in the project and does endorse it. The cast is fine and what is left of the original retains some of its power.

Layer Cake is a really tough, pretty brutal thriller that you may want to turn away from but won't be able to. Snatch is a looser, more humorous Guy Richie Romp that has some of the gritty atmosphere of Cake but is a lot lighter and more fun. A nice double feature and both look and sound great.
This high flying release from the superhero series Spectacular Spider-Man includes all of the show's first and second seasons, following the titular hero through several animated adventures.

AND one of the very best incarnations of Spidey on any screen and in any form./ Looks great of blu-ray./ Only downside is that this great show was cancelled after just 2 seasons./ But at least we have 26 glorious episodes to relish here!

So ok: The first one is still interesting and entertaining although nastier than I remembered...Does ANYBODY "like" the Heston lead character? I think we're not supposed to like him, but that makes the film hard to watch. The second is Not Bad and each of the following 3 is pretty terrible. BUT....the Series as a whole is greater than the sum of its parts and remains fascinating for all sorts of reasons. So watch the whole thing and THINK about it!

Ghostbusters II is almost universally regarded as a disappointment when placed side-by-side with its esteemed predecessor and, as such, is always approached with lowered expectations when viewed today. With that attitude in mind, however, the movie ends up exceeding those 'lowered' expectations and is quite amusing in a looser, less structured manner than the first film.

This is as good as Ghostbusters has ever looked and in many ways is probably superior in this regard to its original theatrical release. Unfortunately, the film itself was a bit of a letdown. It's one of those movies that lives on in the memory because of when one saw it the first time (when an elitist teenage slacker) and because of the admittedly great set peices and individual lines. Worth owning because of the transfer if you're a fan, however.

This is probably one of the very best in the (nearly) always excellent DC Animated series. Marvel may have a lock on the 'real' movies, but DC (and Bruce Timm) have long established their supremacy in the animated field...right back to Batman The Animated Series groundbreaking stories over a decade ago.
