Season 2 of "Chicago P.D." improves on the first year with gripping stories and a likable if perhaps too attractive cast. (Even their jeans and leather jackets look tailored.) I like the emphasis on crime over soap opera back stories that sometimes overwhelm the brother show, "Chicago Fire."

The bonus features are fine, though the commentaries don't add much to the experience. If you can handle the blood, guts and gutter language, the well-crafted show is worth a look.

"Vikings" is a lot of fun if you don't require much in terms of historical accuracy. Plenty of violence, though not on the level of, say, "Spartacus," which I still prefer. But season 3 provides a nice escape from the mundane 21st century world. I wish I'd gone for the Blu-ray release, though the DVDs look good over all.
