Charges really quickly. However, the internal battery does get used up rapidly so the entire unit needs to be recharged. ALso, it was a bit difficult to get the cord inserted and I would probably not remove it.

I was a bit cautious to buy this modem and replace the one provided to me by the cable company. But now it has been so worth it. No technical problems after I installed and activated it. If you are using a rented modem from the cable company buy this first, call to activate it (didn't take long) and return the rented modem back to the cable company.
