just what I needed

I saved almost a thousand dollars in wiring my house for networking. Printing, internet, Netflix, VUDU and file sharing without a hiccup. I used the wireless for my cell and laptop and the plug-in wire for my TV, Blueray/media player and desktops computers. The 500 ones work the best. The 250 ones not good for serious streaming but okay for regular internet, printing and file sharing on the network.

Is this product compatible with the new FiOS Quantum Gateway router?
Here is a link to the Verizon webpage about their new router. I don't want to buy the Netgear Powerline acess point unless it's works with my dual-band router. Thanks.

Don't see why not. The netgear is like a hub. What ever you plug into it will communicate with your router and vise versa. After you plug your router into your netgear the lights will twinkle a little and Plug the other netgear where you need it, follow the instructions to get it or more if you have them to communicate.

How do I find the XWNB5201 gateway code?
I'm using the XWNB5201 to try to play online on a DS light. Is this possible? I think I know all the codes except for the "gateway" and want to know where to find this. Also, if I could know if my DNS's are correct and my IP Address, as well as the Subnet Mask are correct, it would help very much. Please tell me if it's possible and how to find all of these codes (if possible to connect at all.)

On windows right click on the icon that looks like a TV next to the clock and select properties and you will see the gateway. But this unit your asking about should get that info ouce it connects to the network automatically. you made need to reset the unit and reconnect it. Sounds like it's not connected to the network.

Can these be used to connect a home network with a building a few hundred feet away, but on the same power line?
I have a wireless network in my home, it works all over the house and yard around it, but the signal is not strong enough to be picked up in my metal building garage/shop about 200 hundred feet away. The shop is wired to the same electrical feed as the house at the meter, can a power line internet adapter be used to establish a network connection from the house to the shop using that wiring?
If the power line for your building is connected to the electric panel (fuse box) in your home it will work. You definitely will need the 500. If the building is connected directly to the meter I'm not sure it will work. If you run a cat 6 (more bandwidth than cat 5 but 5 should do the job) wire plugged into a 500 from the house to the building that would be the best. Plug the wire in another 500 wireless or hub and your back in business. If you run the wire underground make sure You use pvc tubing or pipes. Tubing is cheaper and easier. Not sure if this will work for you, you can plug the 500 in your laundry room and run the wire outside through the dryer vent instead of drilling a hole.
