Good for what you pay

This is a mid quality cable. We use it upstairs for our mid-quality tv. However, I would not recommend it as much for a high end tv or any high end audio systems. Like anything, your system is only as good as your weakest link. So for a 240 HZ tv or any 4k or OLED, you will absolutely want a higher end cable. We used it with our high end tv downstairs and the colors were less vibrant. Also, with a high end sound system, you lose out on some of your finer sounds.
For our purpose of our upstairs tv, it works perfectly.

Do you need to keep the dongle plugged into your computer all of the time?
No, only when you want to sync the info to your computer. it Can sync to another device like a phone or tablet without the dongle, or to the PC by plugging the dongle in as you want to update your stats.
