Other GPS mounts not only leave a residue on your dash or windshield, they tend to fall off when you least expect it. This mount can be used in cars other than your own - especially great for use in rental cars. It packs easily in carry-on luggage, and stays where you put it. Especially easy to tuck entire GPS and mount out of sight of thieves and vandals when parking your vehicle.

I have used other Garmin products for marine (fishing) applications that have also left me wanting easier and more complete feature usage. My choices for a a good foreign travel GPS, however, were limited by who had the best road map software. The nuvi 2597 LMT worked well for several days of interior Norway travel by using the Garmin City Navigator® Europe NT 2014.10: Nordics micro SD card ($69.99 USD).

What's not so great: saving trails and waypoints more difficult than necessary
