The Ring camera works great but can see camera improvements through the years. You will know when all your services deliver something to your house. You can talk to the delivery person etc. or talk to anyone who is at your door. You may even store videos of activity at your porch if it is criminal in nature to show to law enforcement. The ring records audio and video. Ring offers a convenient and low cost yearly option for keeping and storing these videos. The battery last over a month per charge. The Ring camera can be removed from the mounting bracket to allow owner to charge the device and replace with little effort.

My door frame is less than 2 inches wide. Can this device be mounted on the brink wall next to the front door and if so how effective will it be?
Yes it can be mounted to the brick wall next to the door. It will require a concrete drill bill the right size to mount the bracket for the ring to the wall. I would check after purchasing to see if the drill bit is provided. It maybe included just make sure it can be used on wood and concrete some drill bits are different for wood and brick.

My door bell is older than the constitution! How will I know if it will work with my vintage system!
The Ring uses rechargeable battery, internet and cell phone to operate. It does not use existing wiring or your door bell chime. It chimes over your cell phone if someone is in the area of your device or pushes the ring button on the ring device. You can also program to alert multiple phones if you like.
It mounts to the exterior wall next to your door. When someone walks past the camera they are immediately recorded and the ring alerts you by notifying you via your cell phone that someone is in the vicinity of your Ring door bell device. If they push the button you will again be notified that someone is at your door. The set up does not take very long and relatively easy.
