Good for focusing on what you want in closeups.

I was hoping to improve on the ability to take night sky photos (the moon, meteor showers etc.) but it still has problems. It does, however, allow me to manually focus on the part of the flower or insect or humming bird that I want to focus on in closups which my pevious camera (Canon SX10) would not allow. The additional lens (75 - 300) does not give me NEARLY as much "zoom" as my cheaper SX10 so that was a complete disappointment. Plus the lens is heavy. On the plus side - the closeups are crisp and, as I said, focused on the subject not the background leaves.
