Buying points cards is identical to giving Riot your money directly, (including the bonus points for larger denominations, despite not being mentioned on the card), but have the added bonus of allowing you to spend your Best Buy Rewards points on them. Given that my Riot wallet doesn't have an expiration date, there are worse ways to dump free money that would otherwise go to waste.
HBO Video's DVD of Cannonball Run delivers a bit more than one might expect from a budget-priced disc. For instance, the film looks and sounds better than it did in its videotape incarnation. The anamorphically enhanced widescreen image is sharp and the film has been given a punchy Dolby Digital 5.1 remix that plays up the film's witty use of music and the frequent car-chase sound effects. The Cannonball Run DVD also boasts an unexpected but welcome commentary from director Hal Needham and producer Albert Ruddy. The commentary falls prey to occasional dull spots (both men praise the actors to excess), but patient listeners will be rewarded with plenty of nifty facts. Interesting bits of trivia revealed on the commentary include how much of the budget went to Reynolds' salary and the fact that Hal Needham and screenwriter Brock Yates once participated the real-life Cannonball Run. The one downside of this disc is that it strangely lacks a trailer for the film. Despite this curious omission, the DVD edition of The Cannonball Run is guaranteed to please the film's cult following.

Every now and again, I make a point of pawing around in the $3.99 bin, and generally come up with a few gems. How could I say no to a movie that features Burt Reynolds AND Jackie Chan? Plus, this movie pretty much started the "rally race" sub-genre of films.

I needed a game pad for my computer, and prior experience with my 360 suggested that it's controller would be adequate. Found out that you need a dongle to use a wireless controller, and the play and charge kit is not ALSO an input connection. Given that, I figured that I'd rather have a wired controller and not have to deal with any of that. After reading reviews online, I came to the conclusion that buying an off brand 360 controller was a terrible idea. Haven't had any issues with this Microsoft controller, and I imagine that it will last a long time, given my sporadic usage habits.
Michael Schultz's The Last Dragon comes to DVD with both a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1, and an inferior standard full-frame image. A closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Surround, while French and Portuguese soundtracks have been recorded in Dolby Digital Stereo. English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean, and Thai subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track by the director, theatrical trailers, filmographies, and production notes.

Saw the Good Bad Flicks review of the film, saw the film in the four dollar bin, bought the film. Who needs to pay full price for the latest blockbusters when that same money will buy you a fistful of classics from the ol' Video Rental pile?
Troy Duffy's gritty mob film The Boondock Saints comes to DVD with a widescreen transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1. Closed-captioned English soundtracks are rendered in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Surround. English and Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by the director, filmographies for the cast and crew, outtakes, trailers, and deleted scenes. This little-seen film had been given an outstanding DVD release from 20th Century Fox.

While I feel the term "collector's edition" may be a bit disingenuous for something I pulled out of the bargain bin, I can't refute the value here. For whatever reason, the $4.99 bin is now a $3.99 bin, and the periodic refreshing of a new selection of classics is more than welcome. I give it the full 5 *insert witticism from movie here* out of 5.

A classic comedy featuring the late, great, Rodney Dangerfield. I don't know when Best Buy reduced the $4.99 bin to a $3.99 bin, but my wallet can't resist savings of this magnitude on movies with this much staying power.

If you were hoping this would be the second coming of Melee, you'll be disappointed. It is however, an upgrade from brawl, and it fits in your pocket. There's a metric tonne of unlockables to keep you occupied, even if you don't have any friends to play with. There's also online play if you're in to that.

This isn't some highbrow, high concept movie. Lionsgate has contrived reasons to make giant robots fight giant monsters, and that's all that anyone who buys this expects out of it. Plus, it's got Ron Perlman, and that's just great.
