Ash vs Evil Dead, a 10-episode, half-hour series, is the long-awaited follow-up to the classic horror film franchise The Evil Dead. The series follows Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons -personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to the unlikely hero from it's InchEvilInch grip. The cast is led by Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams, Lucy Lawless as Ruby a mysterious figure who believes Ash is the cause of the Evil outbreaks, Ray Santiago as Pablo Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash's loyal sidekick, Dana DeLorenzo as Kelly Maxwell, a moody wild child trying to outrun her past and Jill Marie Jones as Amanda Fisher, a disgraced Michigan State Trooper set to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his responsibility in the grisly murder of her partner. The series is executive produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell, the original filmmakers of the franchise, and Craig DiGregorio (InchChuckInch), who serves as executive producer and showrunner.

Quite *groovy* to hear of this coming out! I've heard of people paying to get STARZ channel just to watch this show and claim it's worth every penny! Bruce, Robert and Sam (who co-writes and directs the pilot episode) are back and in charge with the television series furthering the Evil Dead chronicles. They had long been in thoughts with an Evil Dead 4 movie with several script starts to prove it. Had thought about a sequel to the re-working movie. But then this came along and now we get basically 5 more hours of Evil Dead chainsaw action! Bruce Campbell is of course very funny! It's been 30 yrs since the last time we saw Ash. His Ash character, however, seems a little more Bruce than Ash...but hey why not?
Because it's on STARZ they can pretty much do what they want...and that seems to be the one major weakness. "Hey lets do all this cussing and violence and blood...and then craft a show around it" seems like some executives probably said. Kind of weakens a bit of the story-telling.

Zach Snyder shot and stylized this piece quite well. However, it drags in certain places...and in other places, too. This has been noted before, but Mr. Snyder thrives on "the moment" in his films. Going for the next moment to the next moment...and slowing down the film's speed to make certain you indeed see each and every moment.
Also, right from the get-go you should notice something missing in the opening credits: Frank Miller. He, in fact, sued to have his name removed from this film as he was so disgusted from it vs. his graphic novel. While watching the movie, it does make you want to read his novel (in hopes that it's substantially better). For example, does the graphic novel contain many Hollywoodized vague cliched fallacies trying to be philosophical truths without any debate and argument?
The movie does have a fairly nice soundtrack. Several Bob Dylan songs Woop! and a couple Leonard Cohen's.

Great fun! How an independent B-movie should be! No wonder the King of the Chins B-came King! This Blu-ray includes both the original 1.33:1 aspect ration along with a 1.85:1 viewing format. Warning: once you start down this Evil Dead road...you'll want to see the rest of them...and each different version...

This was the year of super heroes going at each other! If you were a little taken back with the Avengers 2 story-line, Marvel nails this Civil War. The writer-director brothers will also be doing the next two Avenger movies (so hopefully they won't go too crazy like it affected Joss :)) As you watch this one you can't help but think...what if Batman v Superman was more along these lines...

Just when you thought the Super-hero movie world was crowded enough, Marvel keeps adding to their Avengers plate. You probably figure, hey, it's Marvel, it'll probably be decent enough...but this one might surprise you with how well done it truly is! Edgar Wright, Paul Rudd and others take their hand at writing, and they offer a fresh, very funny approach! It was nice going back to light-hearted entertainment as much of the Marvel world has gotten more serious and dark. For family viewing, Marvel does seem okay with adding more and more bad language to their movies, though, and Ant-Man is no exception, so parents of younger children take note.

Quentin's 4th and 5th showings weave the interactions of The Bride (Uma Thurman) and are a couple of his more popular and fan favorite films in his catalog. This nice package contains both films at a nice cost!

Another classic Hitchock! He originally shot this in 3D, and that version has been remastered and included in this fine product offering! It's based on a play and thus Hitch films the majority of this movie in the single scene of the apartment...but one can hardly tell with his directing style. The character study also makes quite the Hitchock turn as you think about who you are "rooting" for at different times of the plot.
From western legend Sergio Leone (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly) comes a rollicking shoot-'em-up! Young, ambitious gunman Nobody (They Call Me Trinity's Terence Hill) sets his eye on his idol, gunslinger Jack Beauregard (Once Upon a Time in the West's Henry Fonda), who's intent on sailing off into retirement. Deciding his hero should go out with guns blazing, Nobody sets him up for a showdown with a pack of the deadliest bad guys in the West, triggering an unforgettable finale that's become an action comedy legend!

This is one fine movie! Is it a spaghetti-western spoof? Yes. But it's more than a spoof. It's also a really great spaghetti-western. Sergio Leone produces, came up with story idea, and even helps direct the opening scene (un-credited). But it's more than a spaghetti-western. It's also a great western. But it's more than...It's also a great story...great acted...great comedy...great drama...great chemistry...great Ennio Moricone music score!...
Now on Blu-ray?! Whaaaat?!?! One of the most recent DVD transfers was pretty BAM!, but if there are few movies to upgrade to Blu-ray, this would count as one!
Also, if you enjoy this one...you'll want to see the earlier Trinity movies with Terrence Hill and Bud Spencer :)

Hey it's Christmas...AND Johnny Cash!!! Great collection of many of Cash's Christmas recordings from various Christmas records/shows. CD is well produced, too. The Man in Black does some nice varied renditions of familiar tunes, Johnny style, as well as some originals.
Twenty-four Blu-ray discs include all the Eon Productions-produced James Bond films, with performances by Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig as the British super-spy with a license to kill.

All the Bonds (at least ALMOST all the Bonds) in one package, and a Blu-ray pack at that, together. Best Buy really was a *best buy* too for the cost. Much cheaper this way than buying either separately or in separate actor collections packs.
The only downside, "Never Say Never Again" is not included, but that's because it was distributed by Warner Bros. I think and not MGM, thus not an "official" MGM Bond movie. It would have been cool to also have the original "Casino Royale" American TV episode, but what are ya gonna do.
