Will the Rocketfish receiver work with my older speakers and a new Samsung sound bar. In other words,do I need the Rocketfish sender?

The sender is primarily for being on the same frequency. I'm uncertain on how soundbars work, but if you can have it on the same frequency than why not.

i have this system and its hooked up with my receiver and I tried to change out the cable box and put the DVR cable box from my bedroom and put the regular cable box in the bedroom. I discovered that we had no sound in the rear speakers

We do have sound but it's not as strong of a sound as when the speakers were wired. The closer the boxes are, the better. Also check for line of sight.
