This Coffeemaker is Simple & Probably Reliable

I've had trouble in the past with coffeemakers which were too fancy. Some had impressively complex assemblies for their coffee carafes which caused them to spill coffee to the sides making messes. Others had complex filter systems built in. My last coffeemaker had many little buttons protruding from the front and a built in clock. It was dangerous since groceries on a counter top could bump a button and turn on the delayed brew function, and it could try to brew with no water in the reservoir when one was away from the premises. Its little push buttons eventually became generally unresponsive and it could take the better part of an hour to turn it on or to turn it off.
This unit has ONE TOGGLE SWITCH. I can turn it on when I want it on and I can turn it off when I want it off. There is a green LED in the switch button to indicate when it is on. It works right. I've now used it for about three weeks and generally brew 8 "cups" at a time. That is about 3 fills of my tall lidded coffee carrier.

More Robust Design than my HP 7310 OfficeJet

I'm very pleased with my new OfficeJet Pro 8720. it replaced my HP 7310 which served me well for about 10 years. The 8720 has very significant mechanical enhancements relative to the 7310: 1) The ink cartridges are accessible via a small front door. The 7310's scanner assembly was hinged at the back and had to be opened to about 45 degrees for replacement on cartridges. Force was needed to do this and a hinge eventually broke; 2) The 8720's Power Supply is built in so just an AC Cord is needed, not an external transformer/rectifier block; 3) The 8720 controls are on a touch panel not a complex many button keyboard, thus saving cost; 4) The front of the unit, where printed paper is ejected, is now enclosed and essentially armored, relative to the extendable platform system on the 7310; 5) The 8720 arrived fully assembled. There was work involved in assembling the 7310.
The 8720's scanner resolution is lower than the 7310 but still fine for scanning documents and photographs. One should use a stand alone scanner for serious high resolution scanning of slides and negatives. At first I didn't like the trade off of higher resolution scanning capability to reduce cost but now I judge it to be good. It might even allow the scanner to be a bit faster. Both my 7310 and my 8720 machines have 8.5 x 14 inch flatbed scanner systems which I require for scanning fragile legal sized documents.
My only serious disappointment is that the 8720's EULA says that the software for this printer may only be installed on one computer. I've done that. I can also use its scanner capability from a second computer via ***UnNamed*** SW, without installing the HP supplied SW on that computer.

Better than Expected, & I Expected "Very Good"

This Oral-B Pro 7000 is my second electric toothbrush. The first was another brand and I was quite happy with it for 18 months until the battery suddenly faded to uselessness over a 3 or 4 day period. The only two other things which I didn't like about it were that it had insufficient body contour so my hand could accidentally slip up to the on/off switch and turn it off during use, and its wide brush was difficult to use effectively on the inside surfaces of my laterals, cuspids and first bi-cuspidis, i.e. the insides of the four curved areas of my tooth lines. These are the areas where my dentist usually told me that I needed to brush better.
I've now used the Oral-B Pro 7000 for almost 7 weeks.
The rotating brush of the new Oral-B toothbrush can very effectively brush the inside surfaces of the teeth in those four curved areas. Its body has more contour and it rarely slips in my hand causing me to turn it off accidentally. From what I've read its battery should last a long time *if* I take better care of it and run it down to a low charge level every 3 to 6 months. I guess that I mistreated my first electric toothbrush by leaving it on the charger all the time when not in use, except during travel.
The Oral-B has lots of bells and whistles which seemed like they might just be included to run up the price, but I find most to be of use or at least of interest. I like the little clock which helps me to spend 45 seconds on each quadrant (the setting for more thorough brushing vs the normal 30 second setting). I also like switching to the next mode for brushing my tongue, pallet, under my tongue, and around the outsides of my mouth. This adds 40 seconds and very effectively removes food tastes.
The travel case is nice. The RED LED which gives notice of excessive pressure is quite useful as a training aid. It rarely needs to light for me now. So far I've used just the "Cross Action" Brush Head -- the "most advanced." I thought that I might never use the two extra brushes of different designs which were included. They are for specialized jobs. I'm now rethinking their usefulness and will probably use them occasionally, for their special benefits. I think that I initially dismissed them since there was so much else to learn about the system. It seemed a bit overwhelming at first.
I am very pleased with the performance and the styling of this system. I hope that it lasts a long time.
