Not great for home automation

I picked up the Home to try it out for home automation features. It would have required a lot of adjustments to support my large number of WeMo items. That being said. The voice was the most "human" that I have heard so far. It has a great amount of information for asking it questions.

It is nearly impossible to get these batteries out of the plastic casing. It required a good pair of scissors and a lot of elbow grease.

I got everything setup in about an hour.
I had to add the power switcher to my wiring in the furnace (included with the Ecobee), to get everything running properly with the wire design in my home.
Once you get that setup, the next step is swapping out the old with the new. Make sure you use the provided flags to mark the wires as you remove them form the old thermostat. Then you just mount the back panel and connect the wires to the correct terminals.Then mount the Ecobee to the back panel on your wall. The Ecobee starts up and asks questions about the setup of your HVAC system. It is just a few settings to adjust and you are ready to go.
Takes a little time for the software to get ready to go once you set the parameters.
Then you just add the Sensor to the room you are in most often and everything is ready.
Now comes the fun stuff…
Crazy easy to setup and use the Ecobee app on the iPhone. You can control everything from anywhere with your mobile device. (props for whomever decided to make a vacation feature to control light use when you are out of town).

Great Receiver

This receiver is a decent buy, at the price. Everything about it is solid. Except for one thing.
The system does not auto switch to the type of audio signal that is being received. When I am playing a movie that is Dolby Digital 5.1 and the sound was set to Dolby pro Logic, it will not automatically switch over to the proper setting.
A couple button presses and all is good, but my other Pioneer elite automatically changes depending on received audio source.

depends on how comfortable you are with setting up a switch in your house. It is no more complicated to install than a regular light switch.

Are the connectors in this kit compatible with Bose V20 5.1 for the rear two speakers.
They will work. The only issue you might have is the wattage of the receivers amp. They would most likely be a bit quiet.

rf wireless kit... fit for high end audio?
I have b&w cm10 towers (4) and cmc s2 center. Will I experience a loss in quality with this product. In other words is it preferable to be hardwired? Is there a higher end version of this product to consider? I would rather spend the extra money to get the system perfect as opposed to having any loss in quality. Thx for you opinion/help.

popping sound?
I am getting a rhythmic popping sound (and only a popping sound) from the rear speakers. I have already tried other speakers to ensure Im not dealing with blown speakers. Any insight would be appreciated
Have you tried testing with alternate wires?
Also, try plugging your receiver into a completely different outlet. It could be an unclean power source.

Is there any way to test the USB ports on a laptop?
I like to use an external mouse for my laptop but all of a sudden my mouse just quit working today. It's a wireless USB laser mouse. I checked the batteries and they are fine. So I went and bought a new optical wireless mouse. Set it up and "it" doesn't work either. I'm so frustrated because I hate using the built-in mouse on my laptop. I also noticed that my mouse isn't listed under mouse in the control panel now either. Any idea what could have happened all of a sudden??
Sounds like your USB driver has corrupted. I am assuming Windows?
You need to go into the device manager and delete the USB port. Then reboot the PC.
As the PC boots it will find the "new" USB port and install a fresh driver for it.
