Huge game, made for fans of the genre

This is a MASSIVE jrpg. It's a complete collection of Disgaea 5. There's no problem getting your money's worth from this game. Reading other people's comments, its not uncommon to hear people sink 100s of hours into this game!
I won't. This entire series is made specifically for fans of the modern jrpg genre. It's menu driven, deeper (not always apparent) game/combat systems, grinding is required, typical melodramatic story, and "cutesy". I think the developers did this completely on purpose to poke fun at the genre & it's fans as an in joke. (Level 1,000,000 level caps? Come on!) When you add in the honest challenge, which is never cheap, it can become overwhelming.
I can get into (some) recent jrpgs and sink 40-60 hrs into them, but this is too much for me. I have a feeling that I would need to put 100 hrs into this one to get something out of it. I don't have that kind of time. Especially, when the game goes out of the way to highlight all modern jrpg stereotypes.
On the flip side, while the story is commonplace for these types of games, it's very well written and I smile quite a bit. The characters cover all of the basic genre templates, but the writers gave them a bit more depth, even if they are just super stereotypes. The combat systems are super precise even if they take a lot of learning. Weapon systems involve dungeon grinding to evolve them, which is kind of cool if you have the time. Graphics are typically cute, but the game is nice to look at. Battles take place in a tactical grid format but many maps add extra rules to create a unique challenge.
Honestly, this is a well made parody game. I get the joke, but I don't really enjoy it. I am not this game's target audience though. I wouldn't recommend Disgaea 5 to MY friends, but would recommend it to someone that enjoys modern, challenging jrps. Also, consider this a must buy if you're a fan of the series.

Players, start your engines. It's time to once again get on the racing circuit and compete against characters from the Mushroom Kingdom that you know and love. For the first time on the Nintendo Wii U console, you get to experience the racing action that has been a fan favorite for years, with a few added features to keep things interesting. So buckle up, push the pedal to the floor and get ready to turn this classic racing experience upside down. With new racing circuits, new gameplay features and a stunning new look, Mario Kart 8 certainly lives up to the legacy. The new anti-gravity feature will have you suddenly finding yourself racing on walls in a haunted mansion or upside-down over Princess Peach's castle ~ not to worry, the wheels on your kart will automatically rotate and shift into antigravity gear for an awesome racing element that allows mind-blowing new circuit designs. The previous games in the Mario Kart franchise introduced some amazing features, so they're back for more in Mario Kart 8. You can still see who's got what it takes in 12-player online competitive play. Hang gliders and motorbikes are back, as well as underwater racing and mid-air tricks, while Waluigi and Toadette rejoin the cast of characters. As the icing on the cake, the crisp, high-definition graphics and 60-frames-per-second frame rate of your Nintendo Wii U ensure a visually stunning and vibrant gameplay experience that you won't soon forget.

Almost Perfect!

This is the best Wii U game. Period. It's beautiful to look at & listen to. The characters, while the line-up isn't great (Two Rosalinas!?!), the details & individual animations are top notch. If you want to see Mario's moustache flap in the wind and koopaling mohawks flatten based on how fast you're moving, you got it. The new & old tracks are georgeous but the old tracks have little new touches that take advantage of the new systems in the game. Antigravity is the new touted feature in MK8. There are places on each track where you switch to antigrav mode. It does 2 things: First it lets you drive on celings and walls. It's awesome driving on walls and creates new routes. It also changes cllision physics. Instead of crashing into other riders, collisions give speed boosts. A new strategy to rake advantage of.
As far as weaknesses go, there's on to speak of. But it's a big one. No online chat and no in-game way to invite online friends to a race. Nintendo touted online racing as a major feature. It works and plays great, for sure, but to not including those MODERN online features makes the online mode feel old fashioned. There are other details to note, but they don't hurt the enjoyment much.
You need to play this game.

Necessary Wii item

You know what this is if you have a Wii or a Wii U. It's absolutely essential to own at least one (two preferred)! Most Wii games & many Wii U games utilize this controller or give you an option to use it.
The C/Z buttons take some getting used to, but if you like the Wii remote using this comes easy. It's light and fits in the hand nicely.
If you are coming from a standard controller, this can seem awkward & tricky though.
Multiple colors are a nice touch to either mix/match with your Wii remote or to personalize.
Also, the same Nunchuck can be used with the Wii or Wii U with no extra set-up.
Note: Wii remote required.

This item is great for anyone with a Wii U or 3DS. If you plan on downloading anything on the Nintendo eShop, this is a better alternative to giving credit card info online. You purchase them on a $1 for $1 basis, but these go on sale once in a while and the it costs even less to purchase.
Also great if you don't have a credit card.
