If your devices are line of sight this is the perfect universal remote. With the harmony software setup was a breeze. This thing even had my HDMI switch in its database completely eliminating additional remotes.

Although not rated for gigabit, this cable holds it's own and competes wroth some cat6 cables. Impressive for a low cost cable. I have a full gigabit backend with gigabit switches and several servers this cable saved the day when I needed a patch between 2 gigabit switches and couldn't find army cat6.

This thing is fantastic! Using this with a TiVo mini, Chromecast and Plex media server, there is no need for big cable. I get all the major networks OTA and the rest I stream with Netflix and Amazon prime (finally added to TiVo!!)

Monthly service charge erroneously listed?
You list the monthly service charge as $49.99/mo. This is most certainly an error, correct? Shouldn't the monthly service charge be $14.99? That's a huge detail to get wrong, please verify.
That is a huge error... The subscription is only $14.99/month, less if you have additional TiVo s.

can this be hooked up to cable box
No, this is for Over The Air (ota) broadcast signals. You can however use it in addition to a cable box, but that sort of defeats the purpose of this box. Is designed for the cord cutter.

The ad says that you must agree to subscribe to Tivo service for 1 year. Does that have to be a lump sum payment up front?
No. You pay monthly. Also, the romio ota does not have a lifetime subscription available.

Can you use this device without being subscribed to Tivo? For example, OTA or Netflix?
Sort of, but not really. You'd lose access to the guide, any recording options outside of by time and several other streaming apps

Can I use Tivo in one room and Roku in a different room?
Not sure what your intentions here are... The short answer is yes, but Both are stand alone media consumption devices with different capabilities. I have a romio ota with a fire stick, Google TV and Chromecast in one room and a tivo mini, fire tv and Chromecast in another. Each has its own benefit and flaws.

can the Tivo connect using wifi
The romio ota can not connect via Wi-Fi. Remember, this is an extremely stripped down basic TiVo device designed to entice cable cutters with a low up front startup cost. I love mine, and it works flawlessly with the mini. (Also hardwired only)

Is a surge protector needed with LCD TV?
Bought an LCD TV (HiDef) this past weekend and was told to buy a surge protector. Bought the Panamax M2-AV as recommended. Today was told by DirecTV not to use it. They said it decreases the quality of the picture.

DirecTV is wrong wrong WRONG!!! ALWAYS protect your expensive electronics. There is no way that by preventing an electrical spike to your TV will it degrade your picture.

I would like to add a TV to my home office.Can I use a splitter off the cable that plugs into my computer?Will it affect my internet speed?
Possibly and possibly. It all depends on the signal strength coming in at that point. If it's strong a splitter should do no harm, although if it's weak you can degrade your internet connection. Every splitter drops the signal down roughly 2.5 to 7 MHz. You'd also need to be sure it's a bi directional splitter in the correct frequency range. You may also be able to use a bidirectional signal booster before the computer and additional splitter.

what do you recommend to copy vhs tapes to dvd?
There are a few ways..... You could get an adapter that will let you play from a VCR to your computer, get a DVD recorder or a vhs/dvd combo unit, although most will abide by drm and will not let you copy copy protected material.

I bought a 55in lcd is it better than plasma
It's a matter of personal preference. Plasma has a deeper richer color while LCD can usually do better at Black's and motion. Now if you had an OLED... well they are the picture to have!
