Having trouble hooking up to speakers

We have hooked the turntable up to Bose Companion 2 speakers and am not getting sound. There is a faint sound coming from the player but nothing from the speaker.
Everything seems to be in the right location.
There is a switch on the back of the turntable near the built in RCA analog cable. It will be PHONO and LINE. Try toggling this switch to see if you can get the sound to output. It may be that the speakers have an amplifier, or dont and this will toggle the internal equilizer function on an off.
