I rarely use my home phone but I do use it occasionally when I work from home. Also, I use my home number for doctors, dentists, auto mechanics, service providers, etc so that they don't have my personal cell phone. I bought MagicJack when it first came out but when I started working from home more, I needed better quality and better consistency so I switched to Vonage for 3 years or so. I don't like paying monthly for home phone service so I recently switched to Ooma. I have been satisfied so far. It did drop a couple of calls early on but for the most part, it has been clear, reliable and consistent. Based on the price I paid and discounts I had, I should breakeven and get returns in about 4 months. I am pleased.
What's great about it: No monthly bill
What's not so great: Initial price is a little high
