There are better ways to extend your range

I use it in...:Small home
Verified Purchase:Yes
This didn't actually do what I wanted it to do. You basically plug the thing to the area of your home that has weak or no signal and then, you have to log onto that extender. Basically, this thing mimics your router name with the words "_extension" on it. So if you're walking to and from your home, you have to MANUALLY log onto your router or your extender and vice versa. It does not work like a powerline adapter. What's even worse is that I actually got better download/upload speed running off my router's poor signal in the area of my home that has sketchy reception than I did off of the extender! I actually did the best thing which was just to get a router with better range. These extenders and powerline adapters are quick fixes, but ever since I got a decent router that advertised long range Wifi, I haven't had the need to go down the extender route again.
My Best Buy number: 228227616
What's great about it: It was simple to install
What's not so great: You have connect to the extender separately from your router

Change IS Better! A definite upgrade from SVR!
on January 24, 2012
Posted by: vespa55

I've been playing Smackdown vs. Raw for years and it was always disappointing to see very minor improvements to go along with just a different roster, year after year. WWE 12 changes all that. Unfortunately, the countering system that drove me nuts with WWE All Stars is back in WWE 12. I've had this game for weeks now and I still cannot master countering the A.I.'s attacks (even with the settings set to easy). If you can ignore the frustrations that drive you nuts via the counter system, the game is quite fabulous. If you have surround sound, the sound effects are fantastic as well. Something about the Road to Wrestlemania storylines that can be annoying is that you can be pawning your opponents and all you're really doing is making it to a certain area or point where you can hit 'Y' to trigger a cutscene. So basically, all the punishment you dished out on an A.I. opponent can be all for not due to a pre-made cutscene. But in any case, this is the best wrestling game I've ever played so far. The countering can be frustrating at times, but overall, it's a great game.
What's great about it: Presentation and sound effects
What's not so great: The counter system *sigh* Sometimes it's hit or miss.

Basically, it's 2K10 with updated rosters.

Okay, there are a few tweaks here and there in MLB 2K11, but oh they are so minor. Other than fielding and a new career mode, it's basically the SAME as 2K10 with an updated present day roster. What remains the same is the extreme difficulty when it comes to hitting ANY pitch from a batter's perspective (it's feast or famine, you're either going to make contact or strike out) and this is at Pro difficulty. Putting the sliders to Rookie does help a bit. But the feast of famine hitting is the same as in 2K10. Some of the mannerisms that your favorite players have are the same. BUT, when it comes to instant replay, that same herky jerky swing motion after a batter makes a hit is horrible. I've never seen a sweet swing get portrayed so awfully in 2K10 and 2K11. It's as if 2K Sports released an updated version of 2K10 and called it 2K11. What a disappointment. It's too bad MLB The Show is exclusive for PS3 owners only.
What's great about it: Updated rosters. Tweaks here and there
What's not so great: It's just 2K10 with updated rosters

Definitely morefun to add to the DJ Hero franchise

If you loved DJ Hero 1, you won't get disappointed. I do have a few gripes with this new installment of DJ Hero 2, the songs are more inclined towards electronic dance music and there does not seem to be much hip hop as well as many other varieties of music in this game. Overall, excellent tracks. The difficulty level has definitely been bumped up a notch. Playing on "Medium" on DJ Hero 1 seemed really easy while playing on "Medium" on DJ Hero 2 was often at times ludicrous and insane to duplicate on your turntable controller. Another gripe of the Wii version of DJ Hero 2 is that again, this is a MUSIC game. The Wii does not have Dolby 5.1 Surround that the 360 and PS3 has. Also, the graphics have been toned down a bit (not a surprise considering that the Wii is geared more towards a family household rather than a student or a middle-aged bachelor) so the characters are more "cartoon-like" while the characters, dancers and DJs looked more defined in detail in the 360/PS3 versions. Overall, awesome game. It's $49.99 but if you want another turntable, I suggest you take advantage of Best Buy's special for the bundle for a few extra dollars. Activision just recently slashed all their DJ Hero items by 50%. Definitely worth it. Besides, I found that these turntables are not very sturdy and it doesn't hurt to have a spare just in case one of the tables turns out to be unusable.
What's great about it: The tracks and the complex tracks
What's not so great: Toned down graphics and lack of Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound due to the Wii's limited capabilities

10hrs+ of fun - price is a bit unjustified though

I've played a bunch of Spiderman games and this is by far the best release yet. The change of gameplay between 4 different Spidermen keeps everything fresh and prevents you from the monotony of button mashing. Web swinging can be challenging at times and there are levels where if you try to wallcrawl, the camera goes crazy on you. Overall, it's fun, quick paced, and very exciting. Peter Parker's humor either gets on your nerves or you'll find it to be creative "vanilla" humor. Very clean (yet it's okay to beat your enemies to the pulp only to disturbingly coccoon them in web). Great game. I can see this game being worth it at $49.99, but $59.99 for about 10+ hours of gameplay is rather steep.
What's great about it: If you're a Spiderman fan, this game is for you
What's not so great: Crazy camera mechanics. Only 10+ hours of gameplay.

Great story, quirky battle interphase however

I was hoping that BioWare would mimic the great storytelling act they had done with Mass Effect and they surely did not disappoint. The graphics in this game is very average. It's probably one of the few games that would actually look pleasant on a Nintendo Wii with it's primitive graphics processor. Overall, if you're into managing your inventories and battle tactics of people in your party, you'll love Dragon Age. It's not exactly like Oblivion because the battle aspect of it all is quite frustrating at times. You really have to stare hard to see which enemy your selected character is attacking. Nobody is screaming for help if they need health or mana. You kind of have to scroll through your characters quickly during battle to make sure they're all in great shape and not dying. In these cases, sometimes a turn based fighting scheme would make this game better (like a Japanese RPG or JRPG). But aside from that, the decisions you make do truly affect the story down the road. It's not like Mass Effect or Fable 2 where your character can be labelled as a bad person or good person. There have been some choices where I just felt like being the bad guy and made horrible/immoral decisions and they DO make a difference as the story goes along. Overall, it's a great RPG to play while I await the highly anticipated Mass Effect 2.
What's great about it: Storyline is very in-depth. Lot of thought put into the storyline
What's not so great: Graphics. Battle sequences are horrible. JRPG turn base battle would have been better

Amazingly good shooter! Madmax/Fallout3 feel to it
on October 23, 2009
Posted by: vespa55
from Hercules, CA
This shooter has been labeled as an "RPG Shooter" by most gamer magazines. It does have elements of an RPG such as inventory, upgrading, leveling up, etc. but it's mainly a "smart shooter". Within a few minutes of playing the game for the first time, you realize how addicting it gets. You literally have tons and tons of stuff you can find and there are so many different types of guns, shields and skills while you have 4 different characters to choose from on top of all that. The fun just doesn't stop. If I had any gripe, it would be some of the bosses in this game. Not much skill needed other than to empty out your clips and occasionally hide for cover. But overall, the experience with this game is most excellent! Definitely worth buying!
What's great about it: There is so much loot, possible upgrading, leveling up, etc. to keep you addicted to this game
What's not so great: Graphics are little cartoonish. Not enough interaction with characters. Storyline is borderline sketchy

A lot of bugs and quirks in the game, but still FUN

As a shooter, this game is not that bad. The cover and shoot system is identical to the Call of Duty series. The fact that Activision took over this project was more than enough of a reason for me to believe why this game plays like an incomplete mess. You get to play with "Veil Powers" and you have your dose of nice WWII weapons and a few futuristic ones, but overall, you can literally pass this game by running and gunning. I can only think of a few boss battles where using your Veil Powers is needed. But other than that, the A.I. for the enemies is horrible. You can put a silencer on a couple of your weapons but there really is no stealth possibility because the second you eliminate one enemy (even with a silenced weapon), EVERYONE is alerted and knows you're lurking nearby. Aside from a bunch identical looking enemies and less than stellar bosses, it's an okay game. The storyline is one huge incomplete and jumpy mess. Don't even bother trying to piece together a plot of some sort because there are a few characters that are introduced in the storyline and then later on disappear as you progress through the game as if they were never part of the story to begin with. I wouldn't go far as to shell out full price for it, but it's definitely fun and amusing.
What's great about it: Nice addition to the Wolfenstein legacy. Not that bad of a shooter
What's not so great: Lots of bugs, choppy transition and probably the worst/bland storyline for a game by far

A nice 3rd person slasher/shooter.

Wet is a mish mash of: John Woo's Stranglehold, Devil May Cry, Mirror's Edge, The Club, House of the Dead (Wii) and Killer 7 (GameCube). Seriously, if you played all the games I just mentioned, Wet has extracted elements from each of those games. It's totally fun. You never run out of bullets and you just keep slashing and killing away trying to chain kills (which seems to be the popular goal in shooters these days: chain kills). Chain kill combos give you health (that and taking a fat swig of alcohol). The game has a nice grindhouse theater effect to it. The character development for the storyline is pretty pathetic. You don't know much about the main character that you're using other than she fires dual wielded weapons like Tequila does in John Woo's Stranglehold and is as agile as Faith in Mirror's Edge. Aside from that, it's fun after the first go round. You're probably looking at 6-9 hours tops of total campaign playing time. Is it worth $59.99? Probably not since it's so short. But it's definitely worth a play!
What's great about it: Grindhouse style format. Very Tarantino/Kill Bill-ish
What's not so great: Very short campaign. Replay value not high. Bland storyline.

Everything about this game feels RIGHT/PERFECT

This game is by far one the most well developed games I've played. At first, it appears to be just another 3rd person button masher type of game. It turns out that the game is subtly teaching you little attributes, skills, capabilities and usage of gadgets little by little. It becomes quite addicting and the battles with thugs never cease to get tiresome. There are so many unlockables in this game which leads to more replayability. The graphics are wonderful and the voice acting was very VERY well done. Everything about this game warrants for a Game of the Year nod. If there were any weaknesses to this game, it would be that there is no realtime GPS on the screen. You have to keep pressing '<' to access the map. Also, you can practically pass the whole game staying on "Detective Mode" continuously (except for the Scarecrow sequences). Aside from that, this game definitely took me by surprise and I was impressed how all the rave and reviews of this game were quite accurate.
What's great about it: Controls are easy to learn. Action packed and beautiful graphics. Voice acting is top notch.
What's not so great: Ends in disappointing fashion. You're in 'detective mode' almost 90% of the game. GPS feature toggled by '<' button.
