it is good, but it's AC 2.0

It is a great game. No doubt. I've certainly spent money on a lot worse. But, the bottome line is that there simply isn't enough "new" in this game to warrant it being a true sequel to AC 2. It's a lot more of the same in my opinion and in many ways a lot less. I got somehow "locked" into the story line and was not able to go back to free play... very frustrating. The story itself is a lot shorter and you get a lot less out of it. The world has incredible graphics. Very impressive. But this game lacks the sparkle I was enticed with from AC@.
What's great about it: graphics
What's not so great: not "different enough" from the 2nd game.

SynopsisFor millennia, the concept of hell has captivated saints and sinners alike. And for centuries, the Western world's image of hell has found its inspiration in the compelling 14th-century epic poem "The Divine Comedy." Drawn from part one of this revered work of literature, Dante's Inferno thrusts you into the darkly imagined world of the nine circles of hell, and this Divine Edition intensifies your journey with a variety of diabolical extras. Step into a nightmarish realm where you'll confront hideous monsters and your own shadowed past, and see if you can withstand the cruel punishments of hell.Based on part one of Dante Alighieri's enduring "The Divine Comedy," chronicling Dante's journey through hell in pursuit of his beloved Beatrice, Dante's Inferno sets you on a twisted course through the menacing nine circles of hell. Face up to the consequences of your own sins and your unforgivable war crimes as you traverse the realms of limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery. Battle increasingly fierce and dangerous monsters as you come closer to your goal, and seek both vengeance and redemption within the snare of hell's dark fires. This special Divine Edition comes complete with a legion of exciting extras, including a free Dark Forest PDLC pack, a developer documentary, a Wayne Barlowe digital art book, a 20-song game soundtrack and a digital version of the complete Longfellow translation of Dante Alighieri's "Inferno."

The game is very GOD of War III type. You have live action hack and slash and then sequences to follow to proceed through cut scenes. There is a dynamic aspect of the game that I really enjoyed when you go through Dante's memories and recollections. It moves to a comic book-esque style animation that I thought was very clever.
The storyline will keep you interested and then concept of making the game based on the poem is great.
Sensitivity has to be checked at the door... there is no room for feeling bad for slaying unbatized children. But, it's a game and unless you are one of those who thinks gaming promotes violence it shouldn't bother you.
The only gripe I have with the game is that it took me too long to understand how best to use the souls I gathered and some of the other attributes you acquire. I'm sure some will say that's my fault, but IMHO I didn't think there was enough in-game tutorial to best use that stuff. Perhaps that is where replay would be beneficial, but it's just my opinion.
What's great about it: Story
What's not so great: I could have benefitted for more instruction.

Sequels are sometimes better

First of all, the sequel to games is sometimes akin to the proverbial "sophomore slump". Well, this one does not. It's better than the first!
It's an unfair criticism to compare this game to the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Why would you do that? Two different games and differing attributes to both! You're gaming library does NOT have to have one or the other :-) Get them both!
You have an added health bar and more realism of only carrying two weapons. The storyline continues from the last game and the graphics are beautiful. The resonsiveness is good and the game overall is a lot of fun.
It is rated mature, but you are battling aliens... so I wouldn't have all that much problem if it wasn't rated to harshly. Parental discretion is better that anything else I guess.

The flagship game of the PS3 for a reason

If I'm not mistaken, I think Resistance was the first game for the PS3. This game is fantastic. Just simply fantastic. I would resist getting Resistance 2 and play the first and then the second because they are both worth all of your attention. There is replay value and entertainment for days. Graphics are great and the storyline is very entertaining. Well worth it, folks.
What's great about it: everything
What's not so great: I can't think of a criticism worth writing about.

Great game

I'm not sure I'm savvy enough to say that the game deserved the award for Game of the Year. I certainly wouldn't argue with it, though. First of all the things that the game does, it does well. It's RPG, so don't expect something different. The length of the game is outstanding. You will be entertained for a long time. That's assuming you don't charge through the main story line and you experiment with what's available in the wasteland.
I do have criticism for some aspects of the game. It's gray. I mean REALLY gray. For God's sake, I get that it post nuclear apocaliptic, but does that mean that everything is dark? And, it will take some time to understand how to best manage your player. I really think the game could of assited more in describing what you need and how you need to do it. I found myself overloaded with weight for most of the game due to not understanding what might be important and what was obviously not.
However, all of the negative withstanding, the game is definitely worth your effort
What's great about it: Length and game involvment
What's not so great: Colors and complicated gameplay

Better and better

The game likely doesn't need any more praise, but it certainly deserves it. The free play and story integration is fantastic and it's content and length is enough to keep you entertained for a long time. Serveral of the side missions were not impossible, but challenging enough to cause you failure and retry several times, especially the rooftop races. Enticing longer play and a more celebrated accomplishment when you finally complete the task. Looking forward to the next installment!
What's great about it: Free play and story mode integration
What's not so great: Little or no real compensation for spending the time collecting the chests of money
