Will Not Work With ATT DSL
Bydlpandatxfromtexas city, texas
Directions say that if you have to use a integrated modem and router system your voice quality will suffer. I have a high speed ATT DSL which uses a modem and router integrated. You can hear every word of the person you are talking to but they only hear every other word you say to them. Tried different phones, same problem. Checked my Internet speed, very good high speed. Called support and they had so much background noise that it was hard to understand them. The person I spoke to would come on and off the line. Very confusing. Finally after about twenty minutes of wasted time I hung up during one of the off line times, maybe they were using their own product. I think that this product would have worked fine if I would have had a separate modem and router Internet set-up. But even if it had worked I would still have a problem with their "tech" support. Not very good. Returned item to BestBuy.

Works fine with my ATT DSL, and behind the router
December 14, 2010
This device has been working fine so far with my ATT DSL, connected behind the router. My ATT-provided router/modem is a one piece unit, so it's not possible to place the Ooma "between the DSL modem and the router," as recommended by Ooma. But mine works fine anyway, even with a High-definition Netflix movie playing on my network. I have 6Mb DSL "Elite" and get good stable service.

Not Compatible With AT&T DSL
BySrockgibsonfromSan Ramon, CA
I was super excited about getting rid of my land line. I'm pretty tech savvy, so I thought this was a no brainer. Not so!! I spent an entire day trying to get this work with AT&T DSL to no avail.
The most common AT&T DSL setup across the country is the 2Wire 2701HG-B combination modem/router/wireless gateway (the one sold at Best Buy when you sign up for AT&T DSL service).
Anyway, it turns out, that both the Ooma device and the 2wire device both need primary access to incoming DSL signal. Ooma tech support was not helpful at all. Confusing automated phone tree. Long wait. Very poor English speaking technical skills. They can only follow a set decision tree of "help steps." They didn't even seem to understand the concept of a combination modem/router/wireless gateway.
Finally, I found several internet "self help" forums, and discovered that many other people had tried Ooma with this AT&T modem with poor/no success. I suggest you google "Ooma" + "your modem/router" before you purchase.

Works fine with 2Wire 2701HG-B
January 15, 2012
I use the Ooma Telo with the 2Wire 2701HG-B and it works just fine. I just connect it directly to one of the Ethernet ports on the back of the 2Wire -- I don't attempt to insert it ahead of the rest of the network as recommended -- which doesn't seem to be necessary. My only complaint is the 1/2 second longer-than-cell-phone "lag" which can cause me and people with whom I'm talking to "talk over" each other, but I don't think this is caused by the 2wire or the way I'm connected to it -- I think that's just latency introduced by the voice networks Ooma uses to transport the data.
