A wild ride through Korean and Tibetan folklore that arrives at an interesting time given recent political events in South Korea. This film is about a small Korean town where tragedy becomes common after a mysterious Japanese man arrives. What follows is an attempt to end the evil. Makes a great companion to The Witch.

If you love old Hollywood this film is hilarious. Completely mis-marketed upon release this film is destined to be much like the Coen Bros other classic The Big Lebowski as it gains a following of appreciators over time.

If yo are not familiar with the tropes of film noir do not bother with this idiosyncratic film, it's a twisting, turning, darkly funny adaptation of Thomas Pynchon's novel of the same name. Great performances and a great adaptation. If you know what you are getting into, Inherent Vice is excellent.

Aside from the mediocre Cars films, Pixar has made a habit of making films that are marketing toward kids that are better than they have any right to be. Containing an emotional depth an intelligence that appeals to adults but featuring characters and art that catches the eyes of the Rugrats in your household makes these films an easy compromise for family film night. This blu Ray contains a stunning transfer of the film and a number of quality special features. Anyone and everyone who enjoys movies should have this in their movie collection.

Stephen King is the modern master of horror and you can't throw a rock in a movie section without hitting some sort of adaptation of his work. Pet Semetary is not among the greatest adaptations of his work never the less it remains unsettling and makes for great late night viewing. This Blu Ray offers a nice upgrade from the old dvd presentation and the price is right.

Many people don't think that it's worth buying older films on blu ray, mistakenly thinking that only movies filmed in "HD" benefit from the increased resolution and bitrate offered by the home media. Well, they are wrong and this nearly 100 year old film is proof of why it's worth owning high definition classics. The stunning sets with their painted on shadows and distorted angle look incredible, the fidelity of this film classic is astounding with a in image that has been lovingly restored. Caligari is an essential film in the history of movie making and it has never looked better. Buy it now.

This little gem took me by surprise. It centers around a young man who just lost his father in an auto accident, who remains a bit distant and aloof even months after the accident. In the midst of his grief, a stange young woman asks him to a school dance, already bringing his girlfriend to the dance, the young man turns her down. The dejected girl enlists her father to kidnap the boy and an evening of horror and torture begins.
I found out about this after seeing several recommendations online and was taken by surprise. It's really well made, devoid of camp and completely terrifying. Too bad it isn't on blu ray in the states :(

A solid film that is less memorable on its own than it is for the legacy it started. A solid thriller that shocked audiences with a twist, it largely holds up today but is by no means among the best the horror genre has seen. This blu ray is sharp and clean with a few decent special features. A solid recommendation for horror junkies.

Friday the 13th is the follow up to what was, at the time an unexpected hit. This film represents the franchise reaching it's stride being the first to feature Jason as the killer and continuing the habit of offering gruesome kills and suspense. The Blu Ray looks sharp which is saying a lot given the lost cost of these films. Highly recommended for horror fans.
Acclaimed magician Stanley Crawford (Academy Award Winner Colin Firth) dazzles his audiences with feats of supernatural amazement. But when it comes to the inexplicable, Stanley is a dedicated skeptic. Enter Sophie Baker (Emma Stone), psychic, soothsayer, and stunning seductress. As Stanley and Sophie embark on misadventures up and down the French Riviera, will they discover proof of a world beyond the laws of physics or have they fallen under the sway of a more earthly chemistry? Woody Allen pulls the strings with precision in this enchanting romantic comedy that explores the realm between what's understood in our minds and what's known in our hearts.

Say what you will about Woody Allen, he is extraordinarily prolific. Last year's Blue Jasmin gained favor with fans and critics alike and Midnight in Paris was arguably more well recieved. Annie Hall, Manhattan, Crimes and Misdemenors, Hanna and Her Sisters, Deconstructing Harry, and Sleeper are all top notch films that any filmmaker can be proud of. Though not a bad film by any stretch, Magic in the Moonlight will not be counted among these. Colin Firth plays a cynical magician who is asked to figure out how a young medium (Emma Stone) is able to perform such astonishing tricks. They have to be tricks right? What follows is a charming little love story that may be too trite for some. It's simple and light-hearted thought I don't think it will stand the test of time.
