Nice compact set, but if you are looking for remastered versions - this once again, isn't it. Also the much anticipated (and my reason for finally replacing my old DVDs of the 1st 4 Die Hard films) finally released disc of both theatrical and unrated versions of "Live Free or Die Hard" as advertised on this set's descriptions - isn't included. 20thCF still has the 2007 disc (theatrical only) of "Live Free or Die Hard" in this set. Still worth getting at a reasonable price, just contact Fox at foxconnect@orderassistance.com, and ask about getting the correct disc. You will be asked to provide an image of your receipt as proof of purchase. Aside from this glitch, its a good compact set that includes all 5 films.
Stream media with this Samsung BD-J5900/ZA Blu-ray player. To build a complete 3D home theater system, we recommend you purchase a 3D TV, 3D glasses designed for the TV, high-speed HDMI cable and an A/V receiver that is compatible with 3D products.

I am guessing that this model is the successor to the BD-e5900 model which I had previously. That model began to fail after 3 years of use - which is typical for any electronic equipment these days. I was able to get this newer model with reward points on a washer/dryer purchase. This model itself is a definite upgrade from the previous version - quicker load time, faster, smoother apps. For my slow satellite internet speeds, streaming is worthless, so I dont have much need for the apps. But the Blu-ray performance is first rate, discs play smooth - Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD. Setup is a simple as its ever been, no issues with wireless connectivity at all. If I have one complaint with this model, its the slow response to the tray eject. Sometimes it seems like the player has to think about the command that as issued to it in this regard. The tray doesnt open sometimes for 5-6 seconds with or without a disc in it. But I can live with that. All I ask of this player is that it play my discs when needed without failure. So far it has done just that.

Much better on Blu-ray for sure. I just purchased a soundbar, and this really does help hear the sound for this picture. This film has great sound effects, and is an all around good action picture. While not the most thrilling of the 3 in this series, its still a good start. A vast improvement over the DVD.

One of the best by the Coen's - impeccably acted - Tommy Lee Jones: his best along with Lonesome Dove and the Fugitive. Javier Bardem is excellent, as well as Josh Brolin. The transfer however I expected to be better, its not at all bad, but I was expecting a sharper image being a newer film compared to the DVD. However I am not disappointed. For the $4.00 price tag it was a fantastic bargain.

What's great about it: Plot, acting, direction
What's not so great: Could have been a better Blu-ray transfer

I didnt like this film a great deal when it first came out, but upon seeing it again on blu-ray last year, I have since watched it 3 times and love it more and more. Of course getting it from BestBuy 2 Black Friday's ago for 3.99 didnt hurt either. Samuel Jackson is at his best here, (the brief interplay between him and Chris Tucker is hilarious), Pam Grier was excellent, it was good to see her in a lead role again, since last seeing her in a small role in "The Package" (where is that blu-ray??), and Miami Vice in the 80s. Also one of Michael Keaton's last good roles.

Still one of the funniest modern comedies in the past 20 years. Still holds up. The extended edition adds a bit more, and fills in some gaps left out in the Theatrical version, such as what happened to Sully? Matt Dillon was never funnier than in this picture. Also Blu-Ray is the way to go.
