I bought this to replace the aging 18-270 that was 4 years old. I wanted more length and also a wider base for my walk around. I have this mounted on my 70D and it feels great. I knew this was a good lens, but what surprises me is how silent the AF is when it is working, and how good the colors are. This rivals my Canon 24-105 'L' for being quiet. The photo's are very good, I do not pixel peep, so I do not worry about that side of the equation. I use Lightroom to enhance where necessary, but I have found that I have little to do, as the colors seem very good to me. This is mainly my travel lens and will go to Italy with me next month. Also, the price was right, and it was delivered right to my door at the day I was told. It has a lock feature and the barrel is nice and solid, so there is not movement when pointing this down towards the ground. I also feel that it is much better build quality than the 18-270 Tamron sells.
Capture stunning images of wide perspectives with this Canon 9522B002 EF-S wide-angle lens that features an aspheric lens element for high image quality from the center to the edges. The circular, 7-blade aperture delivers soft backgrounds.

I bought this a couple of days ago, and went right out and tested the lens on my 2 cameras. MY 60D & 70D. The lens is solid to feel, has a very snug fit and is light. The colors are reproduced at a very high level and I have not noticed any problems on the corners with vignetting. I shot about 300 photo's, using all aperture settings, shutter speed, and ISO. Just to see how flexible it was to different settings, I Liked the results. Because it is an f/2.8 lens, I got it so I could make low light video's on my 70D, but now I see the opportunity to also use it as a walk around when I head to Italy in April. I may now buy a 2nd one, and have it stay on my 60D permanently.

I was looking for a small easy to use travel laptop. I found it today. I got it home, and was up and running in about 3 minutes. It does what I need, check emails, surf the web, youtube, watch a video on netflix. The battery has a 10 hour usage is great. Very light, but built solid.

I bought this as an open box unit, and I am very pleased. The hookup was simple, and so was my getting back into Netflix. It has great color and video, and the add-on apps are also very nice.

I picked up my 70D in the morning. Got home set it up and went for a walk through the park. I used all of the settings except Video and I am very pleased at the results. Live View is very quick, if focuses quickly, I love the additional AF points. It has many more features that I will be trying out in the coming days. I own a 60D and this is a definite step up and forward. Right out of the box it took very good photo's, and I took a couple in early evening on AUTO ISO and the photo's came out better than I expected. Right now the RAW format isn't recognized in Lightroom 4.4. If you are an existing Canon DSLR user, reload the software for working on photo's, then you can shoot RAW if you need that discipline.
What's great about it: Easy to setup and use, good price, excellent photo's, great Live View and Video

I bought this when I noticed that it was on sale. I had been wanting to upgrade to this lens for my Canon 60D. I have used it a couple of times and over 400 photo's. It is crisp for me on close ups and I like the extended range over my 18-135mm.
I am an amateur photographer, so I have no need for taking my photo's to 11x17 or larger. I have used this also in a pinch for portrait use and found it to be a good lens.
I like the feel and I like the results, and the locking device at 18mm allows me to walk around and not worry about the lens extending on me.
What's great about it: Size, ease of use, Image Quality, low light usage
What's not so great: it isn't 300mm
I would recommend this to a friend!

Night Photo's

You mention that the night photo's and HIGH ISO are better than the 60D. Can you be more explicit, like ISO settings of 70D vs 60D. I own a 60D and I want to upgrade, but not to a FF.

Handy for taking notes/emails while traveling

Using this for taking notes at conferences and meetings, checking/replying to emails, and working while on planes. Good battery life, compact, and light enough to carry around. Fits in my letter-size portfolio. I'm going to be happy not lugging around my full sized notebook for these events.

AWESOME CAMERA
ByDOCTORMORGAN
I BOUGHT THIS CAMERA 3 YEARS AGO - ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT - SUPER SHARP AND GREAT IN LOW LIGHT - FABULOUS FOR INDOOR EVENTS - SPORTS - PARTICULARLY WEDDINGS IF FLASH IS NOT ALLOWED. LANDSCAPES ARE CRISP - SUPER SHARP. I USE IT FOR EVERYTHING EXCEPT AIR SHOWS WHERE I NEED MY 60D WITH THE HIGH BURST RATE AND EXTREME TELEPHOTO. A GREAT FULL FRAME CAMERA - GLAD I BOUGHT IT.

I hear a lot about only 9 focus points, well your 60D has only 9. I have the 60 & 70D, and I am seriously looking into the 6D for more low-light flexibility. What have you shot in low-light, the ISO numbers. I am very curious.

great upgrade from the original 7d
Byohata0
so far it's been really great.
image quality is better at comparable isos, af system has been improved, both regular and in live view.
customization options are plentiful--you can set the back buttons to do af one shot or ai servo regardless of the focus mode you're in so upu can quickly change from one shot to servo by just using the other button.
some of the button layout is different compared to the original 7d, but with some customization, it's not too bad to get used to.
ended up choosing this over the 80d because of better image quality at higher isos and i really didn't like not having the joystick on the 60d/70d that i tried (for selecting af points)

A refined 5D MkII
Byrd87fromFolsom, CA
If you compare this to a 5D mkII, it is an improvement on every level. If you compare it to a 5D mkIII than you will obviously have a lot to complain about. Ultimately, I think it is an amazing camera. If you take into account that wifi and gps for a 5Diii costs you another $700 then you will realize that it is super handy. Shooting weddings I can upload photos to my phone, or email them directly to clients as they leave the venue. The quality and high ISO is extremely good. The build, although partially plastic does not feel anything like a xxD series or the rebel series. The magnesium skeleton gives it the weight and sturdiness, and the plastic keep it light (and allows for gps/wifi). The only downside I can think of is there is only 1 card slot. I don't really care as I only shoot stills and I have never once before wished for two, but I imagine for video two would be beneficial. I shot weddings with a 5Dii, and this is an improvement. I don't think it would be necessary to get a 5Diii over this. Maybe if your a gear head and have tons of money to spend, but you truly don't get that much more.

STILL LOVE IT?

Great Full-Frame DSLR for the advanved user
BySkuzz
The Nikon D750 has a great feel and it's performance is amazing. The high ISO performance on this camera is insanely good. I have no issues pushing this thing to ISO 12,800 when needed. The 51 autofocus points are dead on and I don't find myself needing to use the center focus point and then recompose to get sharp images. The surrounding focus points are dead on even in dark situations.
I've used the Canon MK III's extensively and the auto focus performance on any Canon, in my experience, is nowhere near as fast and precise as the D750.
I shoot events as well as my kids (who are 7 and 10) and the 6.5 fps burst mode is more than enough to capture a cool sequence of movement. It's a little bit of spraying and praying but can provide a cool 3 or 4 photo sequence print that would look great on a wall.
The HD video on D750 is tack sharp, clean and beautiful for your everyday family moments and gatherings. If you're a weekend wedding warrior this camera will definitely provide great looking footage, however, I must admit that the ISO performance on the Canon 5D MKIII's is far superior to the Nikon's. So, depending on your primary use you may want to consider the Canon 5D MKIII.
Nikon's ISO performance has always been superior to Canon's on the still image side. Canon, however, always out performed Nikon's ISO performance on the video front. So, really, consider what your primary use for the camera will be and go from there.

Surpassed all expectations
ByWaterslide
Great camera body for hobbyist, photography, and video. I had upgraded from a Canon 60D to the 70D and after a week I decided I needed to upgrade to the 80D for the additional auto focus capabilities. Everything about this camera is amazing from the wifi smart app access, lcd touchscreen controls to the amazing quality of prints. I have had oversized prints made and they look stunning. Only thing I would change is to add 4K video and have a full frame sensor but for 1199, you can't beat it!

Great for Videography
Bywaveoven
I primarily shoot street photography but had an increasing need for a solid camera to do video work. This camera achieves that and so much more! I have coupled it with the versatile L series 24-105mm lens.
After years of using my iPhone and borrowing other friends DSLRs, I decided to make the leap and purchase a camera of my own. I have not been disappointed.
Low light sensitivity is great and comparable to my experiences with the 7D. Functionality is fast and intuitive. I love the touch screen, tap to focus is incredibly useful especially when shooting video in a crowded setting.
While the crop sensor may not be ideal for future photography projects, I plan on compensating with a 35mm lens.
At the price point, this is an excellent entry level camera and after all, the most important qualities for good art in this medium are a good lens and a great eye!
