I've used many types of routers before, but this is my first experience with Netgear. This one setup pretty easily, with standard web interface. It has the features most people need, including port forwarding which I needed. It was working pretty well for a couple days with stable WIFI connection and internet connectivity. Suddenly on the third day or so, it loses internet connection. Although devices can still connect to the WIFI, the router is unable to negotiate connection with the ISP. Unfortunately at this point it was outside the Bestbuy return period so I had to call Netgear customer support. Even though I have experience trouble shooting networking issues, the Netgear rep wanted me to go through the same process before issuing me a RMA, wasting more than an hour of my time. Even by that point he wasn't finished; there were more hoops for me to jump through. I just gave up by this point, there were too many hoops to jump through. That's probably their strategy to minimize the number of RMA's they have to issue. Most other companies will just believe you when you say you did the troubleshooting steps and confirm the product is defective and just issue a RMA. I just wasted my money on this junk. Never buying Netgear again.

Now I can watch Netflix on the bedroom TV. I have a PC and Roku hooked up to the main TV in the living room, so I don't really need a Chromecast there. Netflix streams without any lag or slow buffering on this gadget. One note, however, is that a strong Wifi signal is essential. This seems especially important when streaming a Hulu video on a Chrome browser on my desktop computer. There was too much lag and choppiness to be acceptable. When I moved it closer to the router, there seems to be no more problems. Great buy for around $10 (with the free 3 months of Netflix)! Even for the full $35 price, I think it's worth it. I see no advantages to getting another Roku given what the Chromecast lets me do.
What's great about it: Costs a fraction of a Roku or Apple TV. Streams netflix great. Also, can stream Hulu (free) on a Chrome browser.
What's not so great: Needs a STRONG Wifi signal to work well. .

Very neat little gadget that saved me from running wires for surround sound speakers. In my setup, running wires was not an option so this was a terrific solution. It sounds very clear, but a little weak due to the limited output of the receiver amplifier. I'm not sure it would output a strong enough sound if one wanted to bring sound to the back yard porch for example. Unfortunately this operates on a 2.4 ghz band, so may cause interference with other things like routers, network cameras, neighbor's stuff, etc. In my case, I didn't notice any interference however.
What's great about it: Nearly fool proof setup
What's not so great: Adds to an already crowded 2.4ghz spectrum
