this is certainly one of the weaker Hellraiser movies that by all accounts was written as a non-Hellraiser project and later spun to add Pinhead and other Cenobites in it to garner some interest from hardcore horror fans. That being said if you love the series and are a completist then you need to grab it. The transfer isnt great but better than prior Miramax dvd releases. The real question is where is Heallraiser 3 U.S. release? That my friends is what the public wants. Not everyone wants to import a Japanese blu-ray and pay too much.

Decent transfer for a cheap blu-ray but it certainly will not overwhelm you. Keep that in mind when considereing the price. Great supporting casts and intertwined stories. David Duchovny and Julia Roberts are great. I like the awkward Duchovny massage scene.

Gotta love Marlon Wayans. I remember the movie a bit differently than when I saw it years ago and it does feel a bit dated. As far as transfers go, this is one of the better Echo Bridge blu-ray releases and you cannot beat the price. Recommended.

Let me preface this review by saying that I realize this is only half the tale because there will be a Hobbit 2. The problem with the first installment of the Hobbit is that there is really no big payoff, due to the fact the story is cut in half. Lord of the Rings left a very high watermark for any other Tolkien story that the Hobbit would never ever be able to replicate the success (not monetarily) of the first 3 films. That being said it is still awesome in its scope and visual effects etc. What the first Hobbit does successfully is make me eagerly await the Hobbit part 2, where all of the real action takes place. Still a must for any action/adventure fans.
What's great about it: Great Viewing Entertainment
What's not so great: Half a Movie
