The picture and audio quality of this Criterion blu-ray release isn't much different from the (cheaper) Universal blu-ray.
But, Criterion's release far surpasses Universal's release because of Criterion's supplements. Universal's release only has a few deleted scenes, and some retro public service announcements.
Meanwhile, Criterion presents almost three hours of documentaries and interviews, more deleted scenes than Universal's release, a director commentary track, and a thick booklet containing essays from film critics and additional materials.
The Criterion release is definitely the way to go!

In my title I state that The Thin Red Line is the best World War II movie that was released in 1998.
In a way, that may sound like an understatement, since The Thin Red Line is one of the best films ever made about WWII.
But, in 1998, another film taking place during WWII was released - Saving Private Ryan. SPR received much more attention from the media and the public than TTRL (most likely due to Steven Spielberg's involvement with SPR). But, TTRL is a far superior film to SPR.
As can be expected with a Criterion release, the sound and video on this blu-ray is amazing. The extras are very good as well. The only thing that would have made this release even better would have been the inclusion of the director's original, 6-hour cut of the film.
Go low-tech to receive HDTV signals with this RCA digital indoor TV antenna. Perfect in a large urban area with lots of local TV channels, this low-profile antenna provides a 12-position switch for fine tuning reception. This RCA digital indoor TV antenna captures signals in a 40-mile range and installs easily.

The upside: this antenna provides a great picture when combined with a HDtv
The downside: not all available channels come in consistently or at all (but that may be a problem with the antenna reception where my house is located)

I was surprised by how good this film was. I consider the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre to be one of the greatest horror films of all-time. I think that filmmakers made a great choice by going with a different (darkly comic) tone to the sequel, and choosing not to just make a retread of the first film in the series. For a film that spends much of its time in a small radio station, the soundtrack is also great.
The Blu-ray release presents a very good video and audio presentation, along with a couple hours worth of interesting special features. Like its predecessor, this is a low-budget film, so it will never looking amazing (even on BD). But, I think that this release is probably the best that the film will ever look.

I think that the Evil Dead is one of the greatest horror films of all-time. Even though I have mixed feeling about the Evil Dead 2, I was really looking forward to Army of Darkness. What a disappointment it turned out to be: bad plot, bad acting, and the picture / audio quality on this Blu-ray release is a lot lower than that on the first two films in the trilogy (not to mention that there are no way near as many special features on this release as compared to the first two films).

I must be in the minority in regard to my views on this film, because I think that it is a big letdown from the original Evil Dead (which I regard as one of the best horror films of all time). The first half of the film is quite good, but then the film really goes downhill around the halfway point with the introduction of some really annoying (and badly acted) new characters. Also, the use of slapstick just becomes too much and isn't as clever as the filmmakers think that it is.
However, for fans of the film, this Blu-ray release presents very good picture and audio quality and a ton of extras.

As the title of my review says, the original Evil Dead is one of the best horror movies ever. Thankfully, this Blu-ray release presents the film in its original full-frame aspect ratio (plus a cropped widescreen version - but, stick with the original aspect ratio). For a film more than 30 years old and shot on a miniscule budget, the picture quality on this BD release is fantastic.

I bought these markers because they were advertised as containing ink that does not bleed through blank media nor harm the information contained on the discs. I previously had this problem when I used permanent markers to write labels on discs. I have used these markers for a few years now, and I never had that type of problem again. The only downside: the tips of the markers lose their sharpness rather quickly.
