Too Nude

A nice bit of Vampire fluff. It seems especially popular with the ladies who crave vampire films brimming with repressed (and not so repressed) sexuality. Notwithstanding, the cast seems up to the task and are often quite entertaining. I did find myself fastforwarding through most of the nude scenes as they did become quite frequent and distracting. Oddly enough, it seems the supporting cast were much more entertaining than the leads. Not one for the kiddies. Definitely worth the purchase price and a good addition to your library.
What's great about it: the characters are well scripted
What's not so great: too much sexuality

Take home HBO's sprawling look at the fall of Rome in this box set featuring all 22 episodes from the series' two season run, and a winning collection of bonus materials. In addition to four featurettes detailing the history of the Roman empire, fans also get 13 audio commentary tracks featuring the cast and crew, three behind-the-scenes featurettes detailing the production of the series, two featurettes detailing the production of pivotal scenes, and an interactive historical guide.

Rome ...the best version yet.

If you've ever wanted to own a quality film series that you can watch over and over and never get bored,..this is it. Filled with breathtaking set productions and costume design, this masterpiece of film making is certainly one of a kind. I would say it easily surpasses the Cleopatra Oscar sensation of the sixties. The characters are vivid and dialog (though brittish) stirs the imagination and will have you "locked in" and watching for hours. Beware that there are scenes and subject matter unsuitable for the young. The only downside is that the series ended after the second season, just when the more interesting history of Rome was to begin. Add this one to your collection. A definite must have.
What's great about it: the packaging is wonderfully done.
What's not so great: the series ended after the second season.

Inglorious story line
on January 17, 2010

The shining star of this film is the performance of Christoph Waltz as Col. Hans Landa. You get a feel for his acting range right up front in the first ten minutes and then the story quickly decends into a Jewish revenge fantasy filled with baseball bat beatings and schwastika flesh carving. There were a few other fair scenes, but by and large I found the story and acting to be rather mediocre at best. Another notable performance was given by Til Schweiger as Sgt. Hugo Stiglitz.
What's great about it: the dialog
What's not so great: oversimplified plot.

The Terminator franchise rambles on.

A quality sequel from a modestly successful franchise. The acting was good, the story -palpable, and the effects amazing. Christian Bale does it again. A much better performance than his earlier Batman release, Bale shares the lead with a new anti hero and the feel is something like a quality western where one is forced to consider the classic ideals of good and evil/ right and wrong.
What's great about it: the story line was linear and easy to follow this time.
What's not so great: nothing

Halloween 2 -Psycho Gore

If you liked the original series, dont bother to see the sequels, they'll only disappoint. That is, in case you were born in the 90's and have been inundated with gory remakes all your life, then, by all means...here's more. The Rob Zombie remakes leave nothing to the imagination and make no effort to evolve the series. What little confusion there was about the original series is only compounded by the remakes. Just when you think the film might reveal something you didnt know about Mike Meyers, it drifts into a psychotic daydream. My advise is to purchase something genius like Hitchcock.
What's great about it: there still seems to be interest in this genre
What's not so great: the title
