The Zenbook 14 OLED (UX3402, 12th Gen Intel) is a very nice laptop that has great features but also has some limitations. The features of this laptop are as follows:
• An Evo platform core i5-1240p processor 1.7 GHz (12M cache, up to 4.4 GHz, 4P+8E cores)
• 8 GB of RAM
• 256 GB SSD
• a 14" 2880x1800 OLED 90 Hz Display (2.8K)
• a 75Wh Lithium Ion Battery.

This Zenbook laptop has all of the typical WIFI and Bluetooth features one would expect in a system. The chicklet keyboard is nice and types well. The Harmon Kardon sound system sounds wonderful and is a really nice feature of this laptop. The included 2.8K OLED display is gorgeous and easy on the eyes. It would be a fantastic option in this series to have a touchscreen option available as that would make this an extremely awesome system, albeit at a high price point.
The included thunderbolt ports along with the HMDI port makes for a useful set of external monitor options. I tested with my home setup that includes a USB - C based multiport display adapter and this laptop was able to drive primary laptop display and the 3 external monitors that I have connected to it at their recommended resolutions (main Screen 2880 x 1800, 2x 24"at 1920x 1200, and a 27" 4k monitor 3840 X 2160). I added a 4th external monitor via the HDMI port and was not able to drive this monitor with the other 3 - which is what I expected to happen but I had to give it a shot (on my home system this monitor is run via a USB based DisplayLink adapter).
The most unique feature of this laptop is a special feature of the very large - some might say massive - 3" x 5" trackpad (my SurfaceBook's track pad is slightly larger than 4" x 3" for a much larger device as a comparison). When triggered this feature turns the trackpad into a keypad for quick data entry - this keypad can be activated in two ways - clicking and holds for a short press, on the upper right activates the key pad for what ever app you have open and also deactivates the keypad functionality once you are done with it. If you slide right from the upper left corner not only do you activate the keypad, but you also open the calculator app within the operating system. This upper left area can also be used to toggle the brightness of this keypad functionality between two brightness levels.
Overall, I find that this device fits well for anyone who needs basic office automation functionality, along with some light picture and video editing capabilities along with portability. This could be professionals who are on the go, or students, or even parents who have a need for computing on the go. This is a very nice device and it would suit a large number of users and use cases. The only improvement I could wish for would be a touchscreen, but that would likely increase the price tag a bit.
Overall, I find that this device fits well for anyone who needs basic office automation functionality, along with some light picture and video editing capabilities along with portability. This could be professionals who are on the go, or students, or even parents who have a need for computing on the go. This is a very nice device and it would suit a large number of users and use cases. The only improvement I could wish for would be a touchscreen, but that would likely increase the price tag a bit.

The Boost Oral water flosser is a fine portable water flosser that perform the job it is designed for well. The unit comes with a classic tip (a Perio Tip and an Ortho tip are available as accessories), and a charger (USB with power adapter). The device has 3 modes - Standard, Turbo, and Pulse – each has its uses. Standard is recommended to begin with, and Turbo is the most powerful for deeper cleaning. I did not find turbo to be too powerful. When the unit gets in need of charging, a red plus sign appears to let you know this.
Using the device multiple times, I have found the unit to be well suited to do the job that it is designed to do, and the modes are each useful. Standard is the typical usage; the Turbo is used when you need extra cleaning power, and the Pulse mode is a massaging/light duty mode. While the device is useful, a slightly larger tank would be useful. The device typically needs just over one tank to fully cover the mouth. The other challenge is that the tank, while small is more than a mouthful and thus you need to consistently switch the unit off to be able to spit out the water and avoid splashing the bathroom with water. It is for this reason the manufacturer recommends using it in the shower.
Pros: Cordless convenience, useful modes, tank is removable
Cons: Tank is small, but more than a mouthful

The Skullcandy Dime 2 True wireless earbuds (model: S2DBW-P740 ) are a good sounding set of earbuds. They have a wide range of capabilities and sound well across the spectrum of music. While they may not hit the highest of highs and the lowest of the lows – they will do the job and do it at a value price. My wife describes the sound as very comfortable. She really enjoys them. She tried to describe it to me as a soft cozy sound.
When testing the earbuds, I called my wife to see how the Skull Candy DIME sound and most importantly, mic worked. I half expected the sound to break up since these earbuds are on the low end of cost, but I was pleasantly surprised and pleased at the sound quality of the phone call using them. My wife, on the other end of the test call, reported that the sound of my voice using the Skull Candy DIME built in mic, was perfect. She didn’t hear any static as sometimes happens with cheap earbud mics. There was no cutting out or skipped words, even while I was walking around using them (a known issue we have experienced with other earbud mics.)
My wife suffers from Tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and poor sleep so at night she puts on rain noise and sometimes sleeps in headphone or one earbud. She tells me that of all the devices she has tried, these Skull Candy DIME 2 earbuds are the most comfortable to sleep in. I don’t know that I would recommend that, but this is what she does.

Next, let’s discuss the features of this set of earbuds. First, these are True Wireless earbuds via Bluetooth 5.2 and are of course powered by built-in Lithium-ion batteries rated for up to 3.5 + 8.5 = 12 hours of battery life. This battery life rating includes the carrying case battery (8.5 hours) being used to recharge the pods. They feature touch controls on both pods, auto on, the ability to use either bud in a solo mode, can work with phone assistants, have good audio quality, microphones in both pods, a noise isolating fit, and IPX4 Sweat and water resistance. The earbuds come with 3 sets of Silicone tips (S, M, and L) so that the fit can be customized. Finally, and likely one of the best features of this set of earbuds is the built-in Tile™ Finding Technology – that addresses one of the challenges with earbuds – they are easily lost. You must download the Tile app to use this feature , but it’s a free app and is easy to set up and use. Each bud can be searched for, triggered to play a sound, and can be seen on a map in the tile app. Location services does have to be turned on all the time but it is useful as these can and do fall out.
The Skullcandy app is a bonus find for this set of earbuds as this app can be used to register the earbuds, see the product FAQ, update the firmware, check on battery status, volume and open the tile app to use find features of these earbuds. I say it’s a bonus find, because the FAQ says it will not pair with the app – obviously that has changed.
The touch controls are all the controls you would expect for powering the earbuds on/off, answering/ending/ignoring calls, voice assistant, music play/pause, and skipping tracks, and one to enable low latency mode. I had challenges in getting these on pod controls to function properly but with further testing I found that you must press down vs just touching the skulls on each pod. This makes these a bit more challenging to use, and thus one of the knocks on these pods. In ear devices are not my first choice in audio devices, however these I found to be among the most comfortable of the many ear buds I have tried.
Overall, in my testing these earbuds performed well and sounded good for both calls and audio and would be a good addition for anyone who likes to use earbuds for their audio needs. The devices have a value-based price that is on the lower end of the spectrum for True Wireless ear buds that makes them attractive.
Pros: Value-based price, Tile finding technology, comfort
Disputed: Wife loves the sound - I believe the sound could be better
Cons: The device controls are a bit more difficult to use than expected, volume could be louder when finding a missing bud via Tile™

The ScreenCast USB-C® Wireless Display HDMI™ extender (model: JAVW62) by J5 connect is a useful device that allows one to connect devices with a USB-C based DisplayPort Alt Mode capability to wirelessly transmit the video and audio signals to the device connected to the receiver.
The device supports 1080P HDMI, it is plug and play and supports both mirroring and extend modes of the device being displayed. Extend mode allows macOS® and Windows® devices to use the remote device as a secondary monitor. The devices support tablets, Laptops, and phones with USB-C connectors. Please note that not all USB-C® enabled phones have the required DisplayPort Alt Mode required for this device to work – for example, my Samsung phone has this capability, my wife’s Motorola does not. The device supports iPadOS®, ChromeOS™, Android™, macOS® and Windows® operating systems. The device supports Miracast™, Airplay® and Google™ Chromecast™. It transmits via a 2.4 or 5G Wi-Fi® signal at a distance of 32.8 – 49.2 feet (10-15m). The device comes with the Transmitter, receiver, a USB-A extension cable, and instructions. At the price this device retails for a USB power adapter being included would be a nice value upgrade.
The device is quick and easy to install and can be up and running very quickly. The transmitter device is attached to the USB-C port being used on the sending device and the receiver part is connect to the HDMI port of the receiving device. The Receiver does need to have a USB-A port that can provide power for it to function – be this a power plug or a port on the target device that can supply power via a USB-A port. Note that you may have to pair the receiver and transmitter on fist use and the pin hole to set the receiver into pairing mode is on the HDMI connector of the receiver part of the system and for the device I was connected to at the time, the port was on the hard to access side of the HDMI connector.
Other than the lack of an included USB-A power plug and the minor pairing quirk, the device has worked very well and transmitted very well from multiple devices that I tested including my phone and a laptop. Overall, this device makes a nice addition to one’s presenting capabilities at only a slightly premium price as of this writing. One will have to decide for yourself if the price you find this device at is worth it to you.

The Epson Home Cinema 2200is a 1080p 3LCD Projector with Android TV. It is an excellent 1080p triple LCD projector for home or office use. The projector comes with a power cable, 2 remote controls (batteries included), the quick setup guide, and other literature. The projector has a single HDMI input, a 3.1mm audio output, and a mini-USB port for servicing. The key features of this projector are:

Usage impressions:
This is a very good starter 1080P projector with built-in AndroidTV streaming capabilities. When married up to one of many devices that can output to HDMI you can have up to a 320” diagonal in a 16:9 format (screen size varies with the distance the projector is from the screen/wall). For my setup, while testing the throw distance was about 11.25 feet for a screen size diagonal of 93.25 inches with the digital zoom capabilities enabled to reduce the screen size to fit the available space on the wall.
The projector’s built-in audio is a decent sounding 10 W mono-speaker and while it does a better job than most built-in projector speakers, the built-in Bluetooth or even the 3.5 MM audio output can be used to provide improved audio to an external speaker.

The built-in Android TV device is a wonderful addition to this device. While this device is contained within the body of the projector it is accessible and removable! This is where the second remote that comes with this projector comes into play. When the android TV streaming device is removed, one uses the second remote to control it. The Android TV device runs all of the common streaming platforms available today.
Overall, this projector is wonderful and has some hidden gem features and capabilities despite the premium price for the added features of the Android TV and the Bluetooth audio. I have found projectors to be excellent, and cost-effective substitutes for TVs, where I can get 2x the screen size for a much lower price point (1/3 – ½ or even more). Granted I am not getting 4K in this configuration, but so far, I have not been persuaded that those benefits are worth the added expense.

Who can use the SimpliSafe Home Security System with Outdoor Camera?
This is interesting to my wife and me in that we want to keep our home safe, not only when we are home but when we are away, which we plan to be often in the upcoming months as we have our first recreational vehicle (which happens to be a conversion cargo van). In our research on what security system we chose, we wanted to make sure we have one on our van.
We follow several Van Life couples on YouTube and most of the ones we follow use SimpliSafe! With that in mind, it was one of the first ones we investigated. And to answer the question of “Who can use the SimpliSafe Home Security System with Outdoor Camera” turns out people who live in houses, apartments, and condos can use the SimpliSafe Home Security as well as those whose homes are on wheels!

*Note: My wife specifically requested 2 outside cameras that she could access at will when she felt unsafe or curious about outside noise. SimpliSafe, while it comes with only one camera in the kit, it allows for additional cameras to be added. More on that below.
Why do you need a home security system?
The larger the community the larger the crime within the community or at least that is what it used to be like. My wife tells of growing up in the country and never having the house locked at night, nor churches or schools. That doesn’t happen today. In fact, I suspect that country people tend to have more security systems on their property.
It is an instinct to want to protect your family and your property from harm or theft. During the 2020-2021 pandemic we have seen crime rise across the country. SimpliSafe Home Security Systems help to relieve the stress caused by this rise in crime.
Can you check on your home (or RV) when you are away?
Now for my wife, she wanted a system that would record incidents as well as ones that she could check on our house when we are traveling in our conversion van. SimpliSafe only allows this with a subscription to their cloud server.
Some will think of this as excess, but there are two levels of subscription. One subscription level, and the one we will get, is a ‘SELF MONITORING’ security which allows you to (1) Call Police, Fire, Medical (2) cameral recording (3) Flood, and Extreme Heat monitoring for as little as $10 a month.
The second level of monitoring, which is just a little more than the self-monitoring costs, is the ‘INTERACTIVE MONITORING’ where an actual person is monitoring your system and alerted for changes. This is an extra level of security. Perhaps you are unable able to call for assistance. The professional monitoring your system will make that call for you. This is a feature that many will find worth every penny. Consider your elderly parents or grandparents who are living alone this past year. To have the confidence that they are being watched over when you can’t be there to check on them.

Setup and Installation
Setup and installation are straightforward. Using the SimpliSafe app on your smartphone, you follow the guided setup to set up the device(s) you want to have active on your system. It is literally following the steps and setting things up.
The system we have comes with a 30-day trial of the interactive monitoring system mentioned above – which of course means you have to provide a credit card number so they can bill you at the end of the period. Once configured you get emailed some resources to aid you with using the system and avoiding false alarms – including 72 hours of being in Practice mode – which does not automatically send authorities during this time as you get used to the system.
How does the outdoor camera work on an RV or Van?
The outdoor camera is a two-piece. One piece of the camera is a base that is permanently attached. The camera itself attaches to the camera base via a very strong magnet. I wouldn’t recommend driving with the camera outside, though it might be fine. It is better to take it off when your home is moving, especially at highway speeds.
Would you recommend getting the SimpliSafe system?
Absolutely! If you are like many people who are spending more time away from home in their recreational vehicle, then you might want to get two systems, one for your home and one for your recreational vehicle. If you are a permanent van life RV life person whose home, like a turtle, is on 4 wheels and moves frequently, then you may want to get just one system and add more cameras. You will need to access your personal needs, but SimpliSafe is a great tool to protect your family and home!

If you are reading this review, it is highly likely that you have a need to scan documents on the go. This could be because you work with documents on the go – such as a notary, a real estate agent, a paralegal, a genealogist doing research, a nomad living on the go, etc. The great news is that you may have found that gem of a scanner that you are looking for.
This review will be done in multiple parts – Key Specifications, Usage Impressions, Pros, and Cons.
The key specifications for this RGB LED-based scanner are as follows:
• Paper Handling: 2” – 8.5” wide and 2.8” – 14” Long paper with a weight of 17-34 lb. Bond – which should cover the vast majority of folks' scanning needs.
• The Sheet feeder can hold up to 20 pages.
• Scans are 8-bit greyscale and 24-bit color but can scan in Color, Grayscale, and Black and White.
• The optical resolution is 600 dpi and output resolutions are 150/200/300/400/600 DPI.
• The scanner weighs 2.2 lbs. and is 1.57” x 11.2” x 3.75” in size with the trays closed.

This portable scanner is quite impressive in use. Once connected to your laptop and opened the on-board software folder opens and allows one to run the CaptureOn Touch Lite scanning software. The software has plenty of features despite being considered a lite version. One of the best features is the skew correction that can help to straighten a page that was scanned crooked. In the software, you can select the document type, color options, output formats, and simplex, duplex, or auto-detection for the number of sides to copy amongst other settings. The software is automatically updated when Canon sends out updates for it.
A second outstanding feature on this device is the card slot – this slot allows one to quickly scan business cards and plastic cards, such as a driver's license, easily. While the product documentation states that it is not intended for scanning photographs on photo paper/photographic media we were able to scan a picture during testing.
Since this is a portable scanner there is not an output tray – thus you must capture the sheets or have the unit on a large enough surface to capture the documents as they are scanned. This is just a fact and not really a con.

The JVC Marshmallow Plus True wireless earbuds (model HA-A17T) are a premium sounding set of earbuds. They have a wide range of capabilities and sound well across the spectrum of music – from highs to lows and the midranges these earbuds sound excellent. I tested these using many testing tracks that I have used in most of my reviews and they include numerous songs that are pristine, well-recorded tracks, tracks with wide dynamic range, tracks emphasizing bass, and tracks that get one tapping along.
Let’s start off with the features of this set of earbuds. First, these are Bluetooth 5.0 earbuds and are of course powered by built-in Lithium-ion batteries rated for up to 5+25 hours of battery life. This battery life rating includes the carrying case battery being used to recharge the pods. They feature low latency – to aid in playing and gaming, have touch controls on both pods, a detection sensor to control the pausing and playing of audio, dual microphones to aid in their performance for making phone calls.
The touch controls are all the controls you would expect for powering the earbuds on/off, answering/ending/ignoring calls, voice assistant, music play/pause, and skipping tracks, and one to enable low latency mode. The earbuds come with 5 sets of tips – 2 memory foam (M and S) and 3 Silicone (L, M, and S) so that the fit can be customized. The manual recommends trying the medium-sized ones as “they fit most people”.
Overall, in my testing, these earbuds performed well and sounded excellent for both calls and audio, and would be a good addition for anyone who likes to use earbuds for their audio needs.

The nutribullet® GO Cordless blender is a light-duty (no ice or frozen fruits and vegetables) personal blender that is powered by a 2000mah battery and an electric motor that produces 18000 RPMs to produce personal protein shakes, or smoothies while on the go. The unit features a 13 oz BPA-free, blending cup (max level is 10 oz), a USB cable for charging the unit, a cap for the blending cup, and a cover for the main unit to safely cover the units’ blades. The user manual includes 9 recipes for use with the device, along with the obligatory usage instructions, safety, and warranty information.
During my test runs the unit performed as advertised and was able to make a personal-sized protein shake with added fruit. The unit runs for about 40 seconds before shutting off the cycle to avoid overheating. Cleaning the blades with a quick rinse is all that is needed before covering the blades with the cover. The mixed shake or smoothie can then be drunk from the blending cup or transferred to another cup, if you are making multiple drinks or a larger drink then the unit can mix at one time. With the 2000mAh battery, the device is rated for “up to 20 blending cycles” - which is enough for one blend cycle per weekday for a month - before needing to be recharged, which takes less than 3 hours. Since the unit is chargeable via a USB cable, it is simple to recharge and be ready to go in a few hours once the battery is low.
Overall, this is a nice personal protein shake/smoothie maker that is very handy for its on-the-go use case. It would have been nice for a carry bag/case to be included with the unit, however, since it is very compact and travels in 3 parts (blender and cover, Cup and cap, and cord) it should fit in most folks’ other bags for easy transport. The only downside I see to this unit is the blending cup capacity – while advertised as 13 oz., only 10 oz. is usable for proper blending results.

The phone clip is especially useful, and its mounting clip has one side with a ring on it, allowing the light to be used with a tablet, laptop, or phone, by placing the ring around the camera lens and in turn centering the light.
The stand’s telescoping ¼” mount allows this device to be used with a variety of devices including a number of webcams adding to the kit's versatility.
The cold shoe and other mounts can also allow the light to be used as a secondary light in a multi-light situation.
This kit is a nice addition to one’s setup and it is the mid-level product in Digipower’s “Work and Study from Home” line of items and consequently has a median price level among this line of products. A quick search of a few other sites reveals that one can find similar kits for a range of prices around it. For $59.99 MSRP, I do believe this is priced at an ok level – it would of course be better at $49.99 and would be a great deal at $39.99

It is 7.4 Volts and 60 Watts (8.1 Amps) and runs off of a 2000mAH battery and is rated for 20 up to blending cycles.

It should work and you might have to get an extension cable to route the rear-facing camera. Since your vehicle has a hatchback - routing the cable through the wiring harness and onto the glass will present challenges.

IT is unlikely to do so - I could not fit my iPhone 6 with an otter box case.
