Many will compare these to the Bose Quiet Comfort headphones. It should be noted that Bose is known for their professional gear and their noise canceling headphones, which are quite good but not as good as audiophile headphone brands. They make their living on their pro gear brand reputation carrying over to their mediocre and overpriced consumer gear. (the small cube speakers anyone?)
I have a lot of experience with Sony and their MDR-V6 (MDR-7506) cans are highly regarded. I'm on my second pair, and had my first pair for 20+ years. They've been used for decades by all sorts of audio professionals. (radio station DJs, audio engineers, mixing, etc)
These MDR-1000X ones are available in both black and beige, battery life is listed at 20 hours, and phone calls can be answered/ended with the right ear cup as well. Apparently one can pair multiple devices as well, per info listed here: http://amzn.to/2dg8IYR
The right ear cup audio control is quite frankly super cool, handy, useful, high tech, and whatever other awesome description you can think of.
I've listened to both these and the Bose QC cans and I much prefer Sony's sound versus the overly colored Bose sound everyone is familiar with.
These are well built and are comfortable on my large head.
These are pricey but so far have been well worth the purchase.
Enjoy incredible sound with these Beats Beats Mixr on-ear headphones that feature 40mm drivers that deliver a low frequency range for smooth mids and highs. The rotating earcups allow for single-ear monitoring and a snug fit.

I write this review to forewarn you about Beats By Dre, by Monster, as a brand and headphone line. While they are nice sounding headphones, compared to other headphones in the same price range, made by truly reputable, long running headphone makers, these fall short sound quality-wise. (AKG, Grado, Sennheisers that cost more than $200, Audio-Technica, Sony Studio Pros)
On a scale of 1-10 these would rate about a 6.5 or 7. Most people are used to your run of the mill department store headphones (skullcandy, sony, etc) and compared to those, these sound worlds better, however if you compared these to truly good headphones then you'd hear what you're missing. These have a good bass response but are lacking elsewhere.
These are just highly marketed to a specific segment of the population to fool you into thinking you're getting the best money can buy. Don't believe the hype. If bass and style is all you care about, and over spending for headphones is your thing, then go ahead and get them. If you want the best sound for the price and don't care about style and image then you can get comparably sounding headphones for less, probably half as much.
This is a good article that'll explain it more: http://audioproheadphones.blogspot.com/2011/07/headphone-popularity.html
What's great about it: style and strong bass (albeit overly strong)
What's not so great: build quality, mid-range and high-range, overly colored sound
Enjoy powerful audio with these Beats By Dr. Dre Beats Studio over-the-ear headphones that feature active noise-canceling technology that blocks out external sounds for crisp, clear audio. The foldable design allows for easy storage and carrying.

On a scale of 1-10 these would rate about a 6.5 or 7. This is what the huge majority of headphone experts rate Beats. Yet everyone buying them and "loving" them have more than likely never listened to a $300 headphone before. Most people are used to your run-of-the-mill department store headphones (skullcandy, sony, white apple earbuds, etc) and compared to those, these sound worlds better, however if you compared these to truly good headphones then you'd hear what you're missing. These have a good bass response but are lacking elsewhere. Yet the bass is NOT the best you can get and if you could get better bass along with better mids, highs and a much better build quality, why wouldn't you? Don't you want the whole experience and the best value for your hard earned money?

Read a reputable headphone/audio forum, such as head-fi or audioholics, and you'll see the overwhelming negative opinions by people who both, KNOW audio and don't fall for the marketing and peer blitz.

Noise cancelation and sound clarity are amazing. Works great with my iPhone and Skype on my pc. At first I was skeptical about spending $200 on headphones but they are definitely work the money especially with best buy insurance plan no worries at all your covered.

better than bose?

Both Bose and Beats are all marketing hype. If you truly did your research and evaluated all headphone manufactures then you'd realize that. You won't find a single reputable audiophile site recommending either brand. You can get something with a similar sound quality for half to a third less.
Noise cancelation and "best sounding headphone" are oxymorons. You can't have both. "How the artist intended"... what a gimmick.

if all you know is Bose and Beats then you're missing out on all the truly respectable headphone manufactures. they are average consumer level headphones that charge a big premium for the name. visit a reputable audio website (head-fi, audioholics) and see why the huge majority of people who don't fall for the marketing blitz will not recommend these brands to anyone. you've been conned. http://audioproheadphones.blogspot.com/2011/07/headphone-popularity.html
