Big, bright screen, fast processing, and minimal software bloat. Enthusiasts will note that the processor seems to be a generation behind Samsung smartphones, but it's still plenty for tablet use. Great for watching videos and surfing the internet. Good battery life - I used it for 7-8 hours of movie/TV watching (that had been previously downloaded to the tablet). Works quickly. Includes a micro SD slot for expandable storage. Has been on sale several times - I purchased the 32GB 9.7" model for $399 and feel that was an incredible value.
The iPad is overall probably a better tablet, but if you prefer Android. the Tab S2 is your best bet.

If you can't quite seem to get a handle on the rather large Game Pad controller, pick this up immediately. It's Nintendo's best controller since the GameCube's WaveBird. The ergonomics are nearly perfect. It goes on sale with some frequency, so worth waiting for a lower price as well.
It is 1715. Pirates rule the Caribbean and have established a lawless pirate republic. Among these outlaws is a fearsome young captain named Edward Kenway. His exploits earn the respect of pirate legends like Blackbeard, but draw him into an ancient war that may destroy everything the pirates have built.

Assassin's Creed IV is a great game and a good entry into the Assassin's Creed series, but if at all possible, play this on another platform. The game makes poor use of the Game Pad and suffers from stuttering and frame-rate drops. Also, there is no DLC (if that is important to you).

You are Talion, Ranger of the Black Gate. For what seems like eons, you have guarded the entrance to Mordor, keeping watch over Sauron's undisturbed dwelling place with relative uneventfulness. But in the blink of an eye, everything you hold dear is snatched from your grasp. Your family, your friends ~ even your very life is taken from you in one fell swoop that leaves your soul desolate and filled with an eternal rage. Resurrected by an unforgiving spirit, you have one purpose to your life, one thing that keeps your heart pumping and your mind from giving in to the relentless grief ~ vengeance. Prepare yourself to embark on a dogged vendetta that calls upon you to fight your way through Mordor and uncover the truth of the spirit who compels you. This epic tale of revenge and redemption transforms you into the most feared force in the land ~ the Shadow of Mordor.Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor delivers a dynamic game environment where the player orchestrates their personal plan of vengeance as they bend Mordor to their will. The game begins on the night of Sauron's return to Mordor, as his Black Captains brutally execute the Rangers of the Black Gate. Players become Talion, a ranger who loses his family and everything he holds dear, only to be returned from death by a mysterious Spirit of vengeance. Based on the player's actions with the in-game Nemesis System, every enemy encountered is distinct and can evolve to become a personal archenemy through the course of the game. As Talion's personal vendetta unfolds, players uncover the mystery of the Spirit that compels him, discover the origin of the Rings of Power and confront the ultimate nemesis.

Middle Earth: Shadow or Mordor is easily the best game I played that came out in 2014, and one of the best games I've played in some time. The game takes place in the Lord of the Ring's universe, but the characters are completely different with the exception of 2 (and one is really just some fanservice).
You play as Talion, a ranger, avenging the death of your wife and son. The story is fine, but the gameplay is what really shines here. There are Uruks, and above Uruks are Captains, Elite Captains, Warchiefs, and Veteran Warchiefs. When you get killed, the enemy gets promoted up the ranks. This means you could get killed by a random, non-ranked enemy, and given enough time, he could end up as a Veteran Warchief, the highest honor. What better way to avenge your death than killing him, now as a Warchief?
The game is centered around learning new abilities and completing quests, mostly killing as many Uruks as possible. The one downside is that you have to learn crowd control because it is easy to get swarmed by enemies, but the more abilities you unlock, the easier this gets.
Great game! Fairly easy to platinum too, if you're into that sort of thing. I've played around 26 hours total and have beaten the game plus earned the platinum trophy. Probably could have done it faster, but I was enjoying just messing around too much.
