Bought this Bridge to begin a Sonos system for whole home. I am incredibly happy that I ended up choosing Sonos (bought the Playbar for the living room). The setup is so simple and you'll be using the system in no time flat. As well, you can add access to any smartphone or tablet through your App Store in a minute or two by simply pressing the main button on the Bridge when asked by the software...everything else it automatic. This Bridge is a mandatory item to begin the Sonos system.
The downside is that I feel with the price of the other Sonos products, they could dang near give you the Bridge since you must have it to make this system work. It's not that $50 would break me, but I'm paying $700 for a soundbar (without sub no less) and you're popping me $50 to make it work.
In the end, the Sonos system is really cool. I love that there's no "hard wired" parts per se (power cords or optical for tv). I can move speakers to any room...any time and have music playing differently everywhere!
Make immersive, high-resolution audio an integral part of your entertainment with this Sonos Playbar soundbar. Bluetooth connectivity streams your favorite playlist wirelessly from your smart device, while automatic tuning ensures rich, detailed sound anywhere in the room. This Sonos Playbar soundbar lets you connect speakers in different rooms over Wi-Fi.

Bought the Playbar for new home and wanted professional quality installation and sound. Out of the box you'll be going in minutes (less mounting). I love the system and my whole family loves that anyone can use it via phone or tablet. This is a plus because it keeps "hands off" from everybody pushing buttons on equipment.
My big CON is the bass sound from just the Playbar by itself. It's probably better than average, but I feel it could have more for the price point. It almost forces you to buy the wireless sub which will put you back another $699 if you're really going to maximize its use with streaming music through it.
In the end though, I wouldn't want a different system. This will hurt the wallet because the Sonos products come at a premium, but they work so dang well and it's a simple process to have them up and running in no time. My son walked in just after the 5-10 minutes it took to hook up to the network and less than 2 minutes later he was able to stream music to the Playbar through his phone.
My wishlist for this item is this...to make one device have "master control" of the system. I can see where everybody having access to the system equally might cause a problem in the future as I add Sonos products.
And go ahead and know that your first Sonos purchase requires the Bridge to work so budget accordingly. Make sure you setup an account with Sonos software BEFORE you begin installation or your equipment won't show up in the apps (it will work either way but I'm OCD on that stuff). Worst case, you delete the system and start over (5-10 minutes)

Because somewhere along the way, console makers decided that it was a great idea to give you 1 controller when you purchase a console. As if you'll never play with anyone else.
