Call of Duty: Black Ops II is a first-person shooter (FPS) that revolves around unique gameplay that propels the Call of Duty franchise into a world of future warfare and back again to the modern era. The game is a sequel to the 2010 release, Call of Duty: Black Ops, and features returning Black Ops characters Sgt. Frank Woods and Agent Alex Mason, joined by a wealth of new characters. To understand the future, you must understand the pastPushing the boundaries of what fans have come to expect from the record-setting entertainment franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops II propels players into a near future, 21st-century Cold War, where technology and weapons have converged to create a new generation of warfare between old and new foes. In this conflict, the mechanized creations of men reign supreme, facing off against each other as their creators stay safe and unconflicted, and in the process grow ever softer. In this scenario an important question will be asked: what happens when enemy steals the keys? To understand such a possible future, you must understand where you have been.Players of Call of Duty: Black Ops II gain an understanding of this and more through the game's additional timeline set in the late Cold War era of the 1980's. Within the campaign story, which spans these two eras, players will see familiar faces such as Alex Mason, his son David Mason, and Sgt. Frank Woods. Linking these together will be the rise of another player in the conflict, Raul Menendez.

I have been a diehard COD gamer since World at War, and have always preferred the Treyarch iterations, and with this game they sure did not disappoint! Good single player story line and zombies, but the multiplayer is what most people buy the game for. The guns are balanced, and Treyarch has released 2 patches tweaking the gun balance. The more I play the game the more I love it, and the maps are hands down the best set of maps ever released with a game! If you don't like this game you don't like COD.
What's great about it: AWESOME maps, new pick 10 class set up, good post release support from Treyarch
What's not so great: Audio, gaming headsets are now virtually useless

This is the game that made me forget about Halo forever! The campaign was a little on the short side, but still very exciting. The multiplayer is the best that I have ever played, the customizable weapon slots make the game appealing to any style of player. Unlike Halo where every player starts with the exact same weapon and grenades and you're forced to learn how to use it or find a weapon on the map that you like more. And zombie mode is one of the most enjoyable AI multiplayer experience to date. I like it so much more than Horde from Gears 2 and Halo ODST, and with each map pack release it just kept getting better and better.
What's great about it: Zombies!, Multiplayer, Campaign, EVERYTHING

I was fairly disappointed with this game after being so thoroughly addicted to World at War. First off there is no co-op campaign to play with a friend or relative if they come over, other than the short missions you can do which might take 5 minutes a piece. Secondly they opted to remove the perk of Juggernaut while leaving the perk of Stopping Power, so you literally die in 1/2 a second from just about any weapon in the game. And last they changed the secondary weapon to include shotguns, which can be held akimbo (one in each hand) and many people just run around with shotguns rather than a primary weapon. I don't deny the fact that this is a great game, it's multiplayer experience just let me down so much compared to World at War that I sold this game and went back.
What's great about it: Graphics, single player campaign, that's about it
What's not so great: No co-op campaign, overpowered weapons (or lack of health) in multiplayer
