It does what it's supposed to do

After having multiple cheap-o Dynex DVD players die, I decided to go with a name brand DVD player in the kid's room. It's a straight forward DVD player without internet or blue-ray and that's all I wanted. It does the job I ask it to do and nothing else. Above all, it's still working!

Solid movie for the whole family

Like most Pixar movies, Cars is something that my whole family can agree to watch. There's enough relate-able material to keep adults engaged and enough slapstick to keep the kids happy.
The story is a carbon copy of Doc Hollywood, but that was an OK movie and it works well enough here.

OK, but not as good as the first one

Cars 2 is technically a decent movie, the visuals are top notch and it looks beautiful on our new TV. However, the story is pretty lame and centers around Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) who I find annoying in any setting.
My kids like the movie well enough, but one of the cars is straight up murdered early in the movie and my youngest son found this upsetting.
It's the worst Pixar movie by far, but not the worst kids movie in general.

Can an mp3 player be connected to the dvd player?
How do you connect an mp3 player? Do the mp3 sound tracks display either on the dvd player or the tv? Can you use the remote control to select tracks?
I don't see a way to hook an MP3 player to this, but it will play MP3's from a disk.
