The most R&B album of Mariah's career

Memoirs is a sonically-cohesive album that might wear on some listeners for being quite same-y. The songs are all good, but none are extremely outstanding. The lead single "Obsessed" is a harder, more hip-hop/R&B sound than what we're used to hearing from Mariah, and mostly it works, but the subject matter and lyrical content might be off-putting. The album is a tad bloated and the final four songs are treacly and don't quite fit with the rest of the album tracks. This is not a Mariah album that will appeal to everyone, but it's much like her previous album Charmbracelet. You either really like it for its intimacy and what it's trying to do, or you hate it for the lack of strong hits and a more pop/multi-genre sound.

What's great about it: H.A.T.E.U, Candy Bling, Ribbon, Up Out My Face (Reprise)
What's not so great: Songs all good, but few standout

Subpar sequel that does too much with too little

Iron Man 2 has some very impressive set pieces and the final battle scene is a definite highlight, but overall the main villain is not particularly all that compelling and the story drags toward the middle.

What's great about it: Robert Downey Jr., the final climactic battle
What's not so great: Story drags, too long

One of the best of Disney in years

Wreck-It Ralph is an extremely fun Disney film with some terrific voice acting from the main cast and a witty script. It will most appeal to nostalgic gamers or people who have an affinity for the golden age of video games during the 1980s while those who are less familiar with video games will appreciate the solid character development and story filled with so much heart and warmth like many Pixar films.
