As a previous owner of a Hoover Steam-Vac (15 yrs +/-) I was happy with the old machine and it's design, even if a few components were fragile, or needed "tweaking" to be great. I had high expectations when it finally came time to get a new machine.
This machine's design is a big disappointment. Cleans well, but it is much, much, more difficult to use. The waste collection container is extremely awkward to carry to/from the sink. Some newbie designer apparently thought the old handle was simply too much cost to keep, and while they were at it, they shortened the power cord by a few feet and decided the user should have to plug in the hose for hand wand cleaning. All were false economies that make this new machine much more difficult to use than the original.
It still cleans very well, but by the time you're finished with a room or two, you're either cursing, or concluding the newly hired designers were straight out of grade school and didn't appreciate history.
Missed opportunities! The new is not as easy to use as the old.
What's great about it: Cleans well.
What's not so great: Waste collection container VERY difficult to handle - poor ergonomics. Hose assembly connection. Shorter power cord.
