Kudos to Nintendo - very convenient

It used to be that if you bought a Nintendo eShop card, you could only use it on Wii U or 3DS, not both. Once you linked it to one system, it was permanently attached to that system.
Now, however, once you link your eShop account to your Nintendo Network ID, you can redeem the card on any 3DS or Wii U that you own, and as long as the eShop on that system is registered to your Nintendo Network ID, the card balance you have will be available on any other 3DS or Wii U that you own. This was a great move by Nintendo - and a recent one, too, since the cards still say in their fine print that you can only use them on one system.
The card is easy to redeem, just log into the eShop, touch Add Funds and then Nintendo eShop Card, then type in the code. Be careful revealing it, though. My brother tried to use scissors and nearly scratched the numbers off to unreadability. A coin works fine. Also, you can't use the balance on the DSi or original Wii (including the Wii Shop Channel in the virtual Wii on Wii U).

My Best Buy number: 0964267990
What's great about it: Can use for either Wii U and 3DS, no all-or-nothing anymore
What's not so great: Can't use on DSi or Wii, can remove numbers if you scratch with things other than coins
I would recommend this to a friend!

The tablet that started the tablet craze

It's an iPad. For most people you can stop right there. People know what it is and what it does.
For everyone else, here are the pros:
- Unparalleled, high-resolution "retina display"
- A plethora of apps that do all kinds of things
- Easy to use
And the cons:
- Doesn't allow nearly as much UI customization as Android
- Much more expensive than other comparable tablets (knocks my star rating down by one)
- Not a desktop replacement by any means

What's great about it: Easy to use, lots of apps, great screen
What's not so great: Expensive, far fewer customization options than Android

A good reboot that tries not to disregard the past

This new Trek is a little scatterbrained. How does Kirk get from Cadet to Captain so quickly? Why does Spock hold him in such contempt when he's not supposed to feel anything at all? What the heck is red matter? Why are there so many lens flares?
No matter. The gang's all here, and there's plenty of excitement, action, and special effects. For most people, including non-Trekkies, that's enough. I feel like it doesn't do enough to keep long-time fans of Star Trek on board, but it's still better than no Trek at all.

What's great about it: Good casting and acting, excellent special effects
What's not so great: Renders moot nearly all previous Trek, some odd plot holes

A unique thriller with the Tarantino wit and style
on May 25, 2013

Like all Tarantino movies, this one has sharp, brilliant dialogue, plenty of action and well-cast roles. Pam Grier and Samuel L. Jackson are so good that Robert de Niro is almost an afterthought, which is saying something. Tarantino had several chances to take the easy way out with how the plot unfolds (such as an overt love scene between Jackie and Max instead of just a largely implied attraction) but instead it goes in several interesting directions.
This is worth watching again and again, and deserves a place on the movie-lover's shelf, even if unfamiliar with the blaxploitation it references.

My Best Buy number: 0964267990
What's great about it: An homage to blaxploitation, right down to the main star
What's not so great: Not quite as good as other Tarantino movies, but still excellent in its own right
I would recommend this to a friend!

In a world where stickers are blended into every aspect of life, nothing could ruin the annual Sticker Fest more than that rascal Bowser stealing the six Royal Stickers and hiding them throughout the world. Your only choice is to save the day, and of course, you could never let Bowser get the best of you. Hidden secrets, magical mysteries, and action-packed adventures wait around every paper-made turn in your quest to return the Royal Stickers to their rightful place.Experience traditional action battles and a quest for hidden items in the unique world of Paper Mario. Stuck on him and his ruffian underlings, the stickers have been scattered across deserts, mountains, prairies, forests and volcanoes and your only hope of returning them to the festival is to enlist the help of Kersti, the sticker fairy. By paper-izing the world and flattening it out, you encounter stickers that are incorporated into every aspect of gameplay in a 3D setting that resembles an entire world made of shoebox dioramas. Build up your arsenal of items and attacks and get your sticker fix by buying them in shops, peeling them off their environment or even making your own to store in a notebook for later use. The full cast of colorful characters along with the intriguing paperscape of Mario's world will have you enthusiastically diving into this 3D universe for an epic quest to save Sticker Fest.

Tarnishes the Paper Mario name

This looks like a Paper Mario game. It even acts like a Paper Mario game, somewhat superficially. But compared to previous entries in the series, which had companions and alternate protagonists in addition to Mario, and dozens of original characters, this one has only one original character who serves as constant companion. Battles are annoying due to stickers that disappear on use, but you can walk past pretty much any of them without penalty since there's no level up or experience system. Special "Thing Stickers" are highly effective in battle and needed for puzzles and boss battles, but are expensive to replace, and you never know which one to use on a boss going in. The hint system is near-useless.
Puzzles are challenging, however, and there are lots of collectibles to find. That was enough to keep me going for 30-40 hours, but I won't be re-playing this game anytime soon.
If you haven't already, play Paper Mario, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, or Super Paper Mario instead.

What's great about it: Light-hearted humor, challenging puzzles
What's not so great: Annoying, entirely optional battles; lack of originality compared to previous Paper Mario games
