movie was done to as a close out for all of the fans of Firefly (which
if you ask me should never been taken off...but w/e). While it is true
that if you watch the series the movie will be deeper, that does not
mean that you need to watch the series before the movie. The movie is
amazing in it's own, and I suggest that you try it out. Heck, if you
like it enough, you can get the series.......
