This is a wonderful USB to serial adaptor for use with the Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10 distribution. If you have DOS-based software that requires a serial port, just edit your /etc/dosemu/dosemu.conf file with the command:
sudo gedit /etc/dosemu/dosemu.conf
and scroll down to the
*** Serial Port Settings section and add this line:
$_COM1 = "/dev/ttyUSB0"
save and close the file and you're good to go.
Hope this helps! This is a GREAT product.
What's great about it: auto detected by Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) Linux
What's not so great: None
I would recommend this to a friend!

Works perfectly with Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS, Ubuntu 9.04, Ubuntu 8.10. Just plug it in and go. Highly reliable. I've had better results with this one than the Belkin version FWIW.
