Excellent quality, and a great price to boot

This TV is my first venture into LCD's. After a huge amount of time spent looking at reviews, prices and features I decided to go with this Samsung. The picture quality is amazing for a 900 dollar set, especially when hooked up to my 360 through HDMI for games and DVDs. There is little to no trailing or blurring, even in the fastest moving games (GTA 4 for example). The only problem I had with the TV is that when connected to a standard TV signal there is some noticeable blurring if you are closer than 10 feet from the set, which isn't a problem with my living room set up. HD channels look amazing!
The colors of this TV are incredible, and rival that of TV's in the $1500 dollar range. I only wish I had the extra 600 bucks to spend for the 120htz processor to take care of some of the trailing effects during extremely fast motion sequences. The sound is adequate for watching TV at night or when you don't need it loud, and I would recommend a home theater system for when you do want things to go BOOM!
I would highly recommend this TV to anyone with a budget. The 900 dollar price tag is close to that of bargain brands, but with picture quality that blows anything in that price range out of the water, and rivals TV's going for double that price!
What's great about it: Great price, Excellent picture
I would recommend this to a friend!

what is the difference between tvs that say plasma and those that dont? And what do the numbers 780i etc, mean?

Plasma and LCD are different types of TV's. Plasmas typically have a high picture quality, but a price tag that reflects that. LCD technology is evolving quickly though, and rapidly closing the gap in terms of visual clarity. Many LCD's have a picture that rivals that of plasmas, especially LCD TV's with a 120 htz processor which makes motion much more crisp.

The difference between the numbers is the resolution of the tv, or how many pixels (points of light) are on the screen (based off from the number of scan lines). The higher the number the greater number of pixels/scan lines. The I at the end versus a P (1080I vs 1080P) describes how the picture is shown on the screen. 1080P TV's typically have a cleaner picture than 1080I's, especially in TV's 37" and over. If you're looking at a TV 37" or under there won't be too much of a difference between the 3, and often 1080P isn't available at the smaller sizes because of the small difference.

So to sum it all up plasma=great picture, high price. LCD=good picture, lower price (depending on what you decide to go with). 1080P>1080I>780I, especially on larger TV's

which is better sharp LC-32SB24U or a samsung LN32B360?

Go with the Samsung. It has a much higher contrast ratio, which means deeper blacks and brighter lights, especially when both are on the screen at once!
