If you were only to buy one Blu Ray DVD ever, this should be it. The photography is unbelievable, it is educational, and it gives you the chance to see and experience wildlife not only that you personally may never see, but that may become extinct in your or your children's lifetimes (like blue whales and snow leopards). I got my Blu Ray player for Christmas in 2008 and the Planet Earth DVDs more than any others I've purchased really demonstrate the awesome picture capabilities of the player. Planet Earth is highly recommended.
What's great about it: The photography is awe-inspiring. From satellite shots of the earth to unbelievable close-ups of land and sea creatures
What's not so great: The occasional predator/prey catch shots might be too intense for some; they are brief though
